|
|
By landslide votes of 10 - 3 over NumberFields and 8 - 2 over Moo! Wrapper, Einstein is the Project of the Month in both CPU and GPU categories.
Quote: | Einstein@Home uses your computer's idle time to search for weak astrophysical signals from spinning neutron stars (also called pulsars) using data from the LIGO gravitational-wave detectors, the Arecibo radio telescope, and the Fermi gamma-ray satellite. Einstein@Home volunteers have already discovered more than a dozen new neutron stars, and we hope to find many more in the future. Our long-term goal is to make the first direct detections of gravitational-wave emission from spinning neutron stars. Gravitational waves were predicted by Albert Einstein almost a century ago, but have never been directly detected. Such observations would open up a new window on the universe, and usher in a new era in astronomy.

Oh boy, I come into this ranked 809th on the team and 225,260th in the project overall. Lots of room to move up and quickly _________________

I've been tempted to put WCG on the back-burner for a month.
Have enough WCG work to keep me going till about 8pm so the timing's worked out nicely _________________

Got quite a few dDM WU's left so as soon as those are finished I will be in the fray
Coming into the team at 783rd and globally at 213, 286 th place As Plomos said lots of room to move up. _________________ What is that in the Shrubbery?

wow, 325th place now, my lonely CPU surely lost ranking the day they made it a GPU project
Well, ddm was unkind and decided to project abort a task I was 96% completed on, after 11 hours of crunch time. Well they made that one a waste on CPU cycles. There isn't much ddm left anymore though because of that. Oh, and after BOINC uploaded files for completed tasks and reported the aborted task, somehow BOINC caused a computational error on another almost completed... By uploading a file both tasks needed or somehing, perhaps? dunno... 2 left _________________

Maybe we can prove Einstein is right.

Looks like there are at least three Einstein apps:
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Arecibo)
Gamma-ray pulsar search
Gravitational Wave S6 GC Search |

Ya i managed to pull two Gamma ray units that I am currently working on. Over half done since yesterday so that's a good sign, big WU = big credits X2 _________________

337 pts. per CPU WU.
500 pts. per GPU WU.

Umm seems that my CPU is working on some GPU WU's as I have just gained 3 x BRPS completed WU's at 500 credits each
Got at least another 15 in my queue along with another 60 or so GRPS's at 337 credits each. _________________ What is that in the Shrubbery?

Revised:
I think Binary Radio Pulsar Search WUs >500 pts. All of mine have been CUDA, but my preferences have 'Run CPU versions of applications for which GPU versions are available' set to NO. You're getting CPU versions.
All of my Gamma-ray pulsar search WUs have been CPU for 337 pts.
I got 1 Gravitational Wave S6 GC search WU for CPU for 251 pts.

There might be a bit of a delay with daily production since you can amass a bit of pending credit.

Used to having a pending backlog and have built a nice little 4.3k queue up already _________________ What is that in the Shrubbery?

I have always liked pending credit, because even if I stop the project my stats will still go up.

How is Einstein on shrubbing credit? I may re-up on it for the month if it is good enough. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!
