Gemjunkie and John
I am amazed that within 24 hours with your massive amount of cores coming onto RNA World we have done 3 things
1. 4th Highest 24 hour production of all the teams doing RNA World
2. Overtaken 1 team and moved into 53rd position
3. Definitely mown "Get Of My Lawn!"s grass
There are two other things that could happen as well:
We are in danger of doing a number not to be mentioned thing. Overtake another 3 teams within the next 24 hrs
5. within a few days once WU's start to cycle though to probably be either the top Credit producing team, 2nd or 3rd with between 60-80k per day. We are currently at 32k today.
John you are already in the top 1000 users
Gem you are almost in the top 1000

Wait RNA is not the POTM as voted in a fair election by our fellow Knights.

Awesome John and Gem thanks for the help
Almost 135K added since the Primegrid challenge finished Wowzzers
Moved up from 57th to 49th position with about 7k to get into 48th place. By the time your final credits have been added it will probably be more than that.
Both of you from nowhere to:
John almost in the top 400 for the project as a whole just 2 more places With 80k Points... Heh why stop there when in another 3 days you could knock me off of project Numero Uno and get me having to sweat to catch up Lol
Gem 3 more places and you would be in the top 600
We are the 3rd highest credit producing team now as well
Within the next 4-5 months I am pretty sure that I can take us up into the top 30 teams with a pretty decent shout at getting us into Formula BOINC scoring position. We only need about 1.1 mill more credits to achieve that
Daily totals:
Today 52 921
Yesterday 46 978
Saturday 32 647
Hee He even as I was writing this an update occured and we moved into 48th place
Stunningly awesome _________________ What is that in the Shrubbery?

Kind of dissapointed that people are dumping the PoTM for another project halfway through the month...
We should wait and blast RNA next month.
Curious--how many of you now on RNA voted for PrimaBoinca for this month's PoTM? _________________

It was just for the weekend, a little help was needed elsewhere. I'm back on primaboinca now.
Did you pass me while I was away?

Hi Blurf
Nobody wants to disappoint you. John and Gem very kindly jumped in to help stop us losing places because I helped out on the PrimeGrid challenge.
They contributed 3 days worth of shrubbing and as you can see above have had a stunning result on our overall position
Both of them are going back to PrimaBonica from today onwards so don't be disappointed.
I have been doing RNA World since before Christmas and not very tempted to switch to other projects on a full time basis because they do real world science (not that other projects don't, its just this project is particularly interesting to me personally). As a bee keeper I am very concerned about the loss of bees globally so, currently I am attempting to find project work for them with bee RNA and Genome's.
With that material we can hopefully find some answers as to why the world is losing our natural pollinators. If we don't find answers with ways to assist bees or cure them, the future is pretty stark for humans because we just will not have the variety of foods we currently enjoy. Its currently estimated that we could lose all of our bees within the next 10 years if we do nothing. If that happens then we could face mass starvation on a global scale the like of which has never been seen before.
They have already done some bee related analysis so want to build on that work.

Then I think we should scratch the vote for PoTM for June and go full-on RNA.... _________________

No. Please don't Scratch of PoTM.
RNA World respectively ask that we give them notice of our intention to shrub RNA World in advance. They are actually quite a small project with limited resources.
Michael H.W. Weber Head of RNA World has asked for several weeks notice so that he can make sure that we have enough WU's available for all participants.
Therefore I suggest that we consider for July rather than June and ask for an advance vote so they are able to prepare.
Scroll through to page 3.

From a history point of view this thread may be interesting for people as I am currently trying to find RNA and Genome work related to bees for the project. If anyone has any ideas or know of any research projects looking into bee diseases let me know.

Also remember that RNA World is a CPU project and not really for shrubbers who are after big credit hits

The UN will accuse us crying "Wolf" soon, with all the previous polls having been proved faultlessly run, scrupulously fair and above-board.

Is RNA World stable enough for PotM? I have a note that we considered putting it on the ballot a couple of months ago, but decided not to due to long work units and errors. Have the errors been reduced?
I see the bit about giving the project advance notice on WU's - that's important - one day without work and our participation drops significantly. I fear dark forces are already at work to manipulate a win next month. Do they really need several weeks notice?
From the thread The Mighty Ni linked:
Quote: | It would be nice, if you could announce that to us in advance, then it could be ensured that there is enough work.
...At present we are working out a system to improve the server responsiveness in competition races, i.e. we are bundling sets of very small WUs to give combined archives that run 1-x hours (just at our desire). This minimizes the number of client connections and will lead to a generally more stable system. It would be nice, if you could wait with your challenge, until these modifications run properly. |
Looks like they want advance notice of PotM, but don't need several weeks. Are the server mods listed above in place?
Is the bee project in full swing - should we wait til it is to put RNA World on the ballot? |

Stability over the weekend was fine, server was down for maintenance once for ~1hr. that I saw. De-select the -xxl sub-project if you don't want the very long WU's (>24hrs.). Keep your cache reasonably small, as at least some WU's are sent out to more than the quorum. If 2 of your wingmen report before you, yours becomes redundant. I only had 3 or 4 of those, though, so it's manageable.
I don't know if there's bee research WU's yet.

And I have had about 70 invalids....and some that are inconclusive waiting for validation....

Did you remember to perform your goat sacrifice after attaching to the project and before reporting your first WU?
