|
|
So a couple of days ago I connected to orbit@home thinking that its a cool project to be a part of. I haven't received any WU for it since then so I checked their website for details and apparently they don't have funding at the moment so there is no work to be done. I'd like to trade it out for a different project but when I try to detach from it I get the following message
173 orbit@home 4/29/2011 11:36:14 AM This project must be detached using the account manager web site.
What account manager website is it talking about and how do I go about doing so? Also what do you guys suggest I switch it for?
and thanks _________________

Orbit has been down since last fall. It was pretty intermittent to begin with, but it may be back in the future. If you're interested in running it in the future, just set it to No New Tasks and check back later (days, weeks, months, whatever...)
I don't know if there is another similar project like orbit. It's a pretty neat project. That's why I started running it. Another "spacey" project is Cosmology at home, but it has it's own set of problems. Milkyway is always good, but you got that one already. Einstein is one of the big ones and is pretty consistent. Consider looking over the big list at boinc... http://boinc.berkeley.edu/projects.php And don't forget about the PotM!

Thanks for the info. I'll keep it around and just check it at some point in the future to see if there is work for it. I've already got the POTM on my list and am waiting for a large AQUA WU to finish up and then those will start running. prima has already downloaded 14 WUs to get started on.
Anyways I'll have plenty of work for it to do for a while
Happy Royal Wedding Day to you too _________________

Eon2 is difficult also, intermittent and when available allows only 2 WU's per core as I recall, so you can't set it as the only active project and leave the computer unattended or it'll end up sitting idle much of the time.

No idea on that rabbit. Running through some of the 13 WU for primeboinca as well as some of the ones for my other projects. Oddly enough i turned in my AQUA WU 4 hours before it was due this morning but it was listed as having missed the deadline. Oh well already made 200 with primeboinca and broke 2000 overall credits

Is it this one reported this morning? It seems to be credited now. WU's that miss the deadline will probably get credit unless it's sent out again to another host that reports first.

Yes that is the one, My history in BoincTasks still says it was missed but I went to the project and told it to update it just to see if it had been counted and it jumped from 441 credits to this
AQUA@home Plomos The Knights Who Say Ni! Credits 1'866.2 Avg Credits 136.16 Host Credits 1'866.2 Host Avg 136.17
How did it manage to jump 1400 credits from one WU??
I am in shock but its still totally awesome

AQUA's pays high credits. It's multi-threaded, so uses all your cores. The Aqua sub project WU's took 24 hrs. on my Q9550 with a 32-bit OS, ~half that with 64-bit, paid ~12,000 pts. but they haven't had any WU's in months.
I could finish one in ~8 hrs. on my OC'd PhenomII x6. I miss them.

ok well that explains it then. I know I can't run WUs that fast but I'll do what I can and go from there _________________
