|
|
I've been running Collatz on the stock GPU (CUDA and CAL) apps that get downloaded when you connect but have noticed the optimized apps link on the homepage http://boinc.thesonntags.com/collatz/power_apps.php do these give any boost over stock GPU or are they just a hangover from the pre-GPU stock app days? _________________ Oh, it's blessed are the meek!, Well I'm glad they'll get something as they have a hell of a time!

For windows with ATI cards and linux with either ATI or Nvidia. There's a thread for installing them. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

You'll need someone who runs nvidia on windows to speak up. The auto-detect for the gpu doesn't work in linux yet, or they haven't implemented it yet. Or they need more beer. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Works on my ATI - ~60K / day. (Sorry for the late reply - been on a cruise ship for the last 3 months. ) |

Sooo, I was trying to install this GPU thingy, and I get the error message
Code: | Message from server: ATI Catalyst 8.12+ needed to use GPU
Message from server: ATI Catalyst 9.1+ needed to use GPU |
Checking the Catalyst Control Center, it says I gots version 10.2.
What's the deal here?
Will I need a downgrade?
Something else? |

What did you do to install it? There are multiple versions of gpu apps based on the type of drivers you have installed as well. And if you are running an older version of boinc you might need to tinker with app_info file. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

I didn't do nuttin' to install.
Just attached to the project and unchecked the "use CPU" box, and then it downloaded everything all by itself.
However, when I fired up the computer today, it started crunching all by itself after a while.
Perhaps it needed some time to think about it.
Thanks for the help anyway! |

I have one system with an ATI card and I get a similar message, then it downloads a WU and proceeds to do the impossible without further complaint. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.
