Milkyway's credit awarded has been a bit too high for awhile now, and we're bringing it down to be in line more with other projects. We've been using a credit multiplier of 7.5 per double precision FLOP and other projects are using around 5.4 per double precision FLOP. We're reducing our multipler to this, so credit should be down around 20-30%. I know everyone hates credit reductions, but it was really needed. We also have some performance improvements for CUDA and ATI applications on the way out, so hopefully it won't be too bad. As usual, try to keep the forum flaming about the credit changes somewhat civil.

tbh, I think many crunched their project along side others simply because of the increased credit grants. Especially if one's left running some projects with < credit then average; running this offset things.
So I guess the next thing will be the search for the new greater rewarding project Anyone who remembers when the optimized Einstein@home client was out will remember this. Getting through the WUs as fast as one could with an optomized client, and getting many times the credit reward for the time spent, was very appeailing. And in that case, more work actually was done, as the client was just more efficient. Which is precisely why the Einstein@home staff brought the dev on team after they saw his client in action. |

Except that there are no alternatives to this project for ATI GPUs. Collatz is still totally unstable on all of my systems, causing VPU locks every 5 to 10 minutes and not recovering without manual intervention.
Even at half of what it was granting it's by far the best thing going. 40k/day for a single GPU that costs $150? Pfft. _________________

Well true, that would be for the CPU...
Speaking of which, had anyone seen the team stats?
Of course everyone likes their shrubberies and their credits I did much the same for a fair while with the project distribution, to get my RAC up there :d |
