Yeah, and CPUs are coming along nicely too. My 4 machines churns 10k/day now, compared to the 25 machines it took me last year lol.

Granted, my $150 HD4870 is still generating 5x+ the points by itself.

Congrats I will reach that milestone when I probably am going to retire from my career and start a life full of Medicare and old age.

Grats #ni-1

Think I'm still working on my 1 million Very Happy Which has had a slight set back as an older email addy housed my credits from predictor (very old, I stopped crunching them before they went down, for various reasons that don't need mentioning again), tanpaku had about 40,000 credits, WCG which won't let me login or recover a password without the email (if, I'm assuming it got reset somehow), etc.

Luckily my SETI credits (a bit of a chunk are just on a dif CPID atm, but under the same email addy so will sort) Smile

Well grats again.

As you see below, a similar situation has me out in left field with almost 300K

I AM over a million, but can't do anything about it

Sigh...

Honestly since I fell into the credit whore alternate dimension known as MilkyWay, 10 million doesn't seem that big of a deal any more.

I mean heck, I'm at 11.7m, and after only a few months 4.8m of it is MilkyWay.

I know what you mean. Over ½ of my total is MW, and 3 of my top 4 (soon to be 3 of 3) projects are GPU-driven.

Even though I'm well into the credit-ho bit, my feeling is that GPUs have very much devalued the whole BOINC system, where you now can't hope do well overall without them. It must be pretty disheartening for a lot of the one-box guys, although I suppose you could argue that it gives them incentive to upgrade; it certainly seems to have created a them and us 2-tier system of have and have-nots.

But I suppose that's progress, projects will go where the FLOPS are.

Two weeks late, huh? Bummer! Did they charge you for it being overdue?

Congrats, ya ol' Warm-n-Fuzzy Smurf!

And from what I hear the next-revision cards HD5x series is going to make it even worse because the stream count is jumping exponentially again.

Quote:
While HD 5870 sports 1600 stream processors, 80 TMUs, and 32 ROPs, HD 5850 has 1440 stream processors, 72 TMUs, and 32 ROPs. Although 32 ROPs puzzles us for a 256-bit wide memory interface, we suspect low-level design changes that make "32 ROPs" more of an effective count than an absolute count. While HD 5870 features over 800 MHz core clock and 5.20 GHz memory, its little sibling has over 700 MHz core clock and 4.40 GHz memory. Price points expected are US $449 for Radeon HD 5870 2 GB, $399 for HD 5870 1 GB, and $299 for HD 5850.

So, cheap, no. But the 5870 is 2x the procs the 4870 is. Eventually they'll be cheap, and then a single GPU will be able to do the work of 8 computers. It's not a trend that's going away any time soon I imagine.
