Around 1985-1990-ish (Back in the days of dialup and BBSes), I used a pattern that was unique to every spot I called. I would take my own number and either Add or Subtract from the number I was dialing. (If it was over seven digits, I'd subtract...) Unique for every one! Not at all hard to calculate. Seven digits were OK. As an alternate, I could have used the numbers backwards, or use some OTHER 7-digit number, like my girlfriend's, etc. FWIW... _________________

Yup, the root password for my own Linux box is "password" - not that it'll do anyone any good knowing that !!!

The passwords I use now aren't on the list, but I've used a few of those before. _________________
