I'll start with my own stats:

(Yeah, I know, others have out-scored me on our team.
Anyways, just cut-n-paste with a higher score.)

On your account page at Enigma. Look down below "Certificates" and "Stats on your Cell Phone" Just above the other projects you are participating in.
Here's mine:
hceyz72 top score 0
We're going for lowest score right???

Code: | hceyz72 top score 1880400
awgly100 top score 2121043 |
but, then, I have done 14k+ WUs _________________ Creationists believe they never evolved; I agree with them.

OK - So after reading the last half-dozen or so posts, here's where we stand:
hceyz72 top score: 1880400
Yankton
awgly100 top score: 2131341
Shoob
And since Al has done so many WUs, he is gonna reclaim a spot soon! Watch out, kNI!ggts!

I wonder, though, how you can calculate a running score based on the goal of one answer. In other words, wouldn't the person that solved the cryptic message get like a bajillion points where everyone else would be zero? I mean, how can someone have a "top score" for not accomplishing the one goal?

My guess is it is a calculation based on the number of possible hits and a number of apparent hits.
Certainly if somebody hit on all cylinders, we'd DEFINITELY hear about it!
<first 5 letters of ciphertext><ciphertext length>
Quote: | hceyz72
workunits remaining 0
workunits done 5694000
keyspace walks 500.00/500
workunits/day 8164
Projected completion time 05.07.2009
awgly100
workunits remaining 3439930
workunits done 2254070
keyspace walks 197.93/500
workunits/day 19294
Projected completion time 30.12.2009 |
So it looks like we'll be through with the awgly's by the end of the year, and if/when we get any more hceyz's, they'll be done in VERY short order!
I asked in a post if the project's almost done or not...
(Well, I bumped an earlier post by somebody else asking the same question...) |

I believe the first part is done and they are working on finishing these WU's. NQueens will have plenty of work for years to come.

It'd be good publicity if we kNI!ggtly types cracked the last vestiges of the project!
A couple posts from Enigma site to say how things are:
Quote: | I cannot say with certainty but i think i can shed some light.
It is not guarenteed that the message will be broken after both runs, as this last message is known to be part garbled there may not be enough correct transmission data to decode. that is why it has been split in two, the two different runs are working on two different parts of the message to increase the chances of it being broken, as it increases the chance that one run is on a set of correct text. After both runs are complete i believe there is a reasonable chance that it will be broken, Or that the scope will have been significally narrowed for another run?
It can be broken before the end time of the run, and each workunit runs a set of combinations and as soon as that is reported and analysed if one is correct the message would be revealed.
I'm guessing that we would probably have known by now if the heczy run had cracked the message..but hopefully with the increasing amount of computing power being attributed to the project, and maybe people joining because it is close the end of its runs, current at least. we should know within a few months if we have been successful! |
Also:
Quote: | Also, looking at the M4 project, I thought the program needed a minimum of 100 characters to reliably decipher a message. Now since the 1st 2 messages broke so easily, it may have been a calculated risk to use 72 characters to get the result more quickly. As we all know now, either the 72 characters weren't enough information to reliably decipher the message or the 1st segment of the message is garbled. So the 2nd message snippet is 100 characters long.
Also, the message may not be garbled, but double-enciphered, in which case I wouldn't hold my breath on this thing just yet.....

Too bad we are having trouble knocking off the current high score on the front page.

My awgly 100 score is still the same but I bumped my hceyz72 score a smidge! Unfortunately all the hceyz72 units are on very short timers and it's screwing up my MilkyWay mojo again. Grr!
hceyz72 top score: 1699290 (prev. 1692298, 1638916)
awgly100 top score: 2042635
Edit: In the time it took me to post, my score went up again! _________________
