Ercewee was kind enough to host some of our better archived threads on his web server here:
http://atlas.et.tudelft.nl/buisma02/KWSN/
and he asked that this be added...
Can you add that if anyone has saved a certain thread he/she can pm me and I will add it to the archives?
However it's not my own web server. I wish! I just have an account. I'm using only 10% of the space available, so there is plenty of room to host the KWSN archive. And I expect to have that account during the coming 1,5 year. So at least untill then I forsee no problem in hosting the archives.

If you have a favorite thread, I suggest you save a copy of it before it disapears. Those old threads I saved are just the ones *I* thought were interesting at the time, but there was way too much for me to save all by myself (especially from THIS forum!). There are some great ones right now ...

I wonder if someone could find my first post and the first thread I started in the Knights fourm. Or the thread where I asked a ton of stupid questions about Genome??
Sir Hamster how do you exactly save a thread??

I'll pick one at random and send it to you KR.
The simplest way to save a thread is to right-click and "Save as". You may need to supply a name and the ".htm" extension.
"It's also possible to set up viewing of offline content and save threads this way, but I haven't had very good luck with this." he said, as he waded through the cache directory looking for lost files. _________________ -- Have you seen my goat? |

If there are no objections, I will move this announcement to the archives.

I object!
However I seem to be out of forms 37.1B-rev7. So I guess you can get away with it this time. But count on it that my forms drawer will be loaded next time we meet, cowboy. _________________ Save the rainforest! Eat more woodpeckers! |

I thought with this big monster of a server we all pitched in and helped buy, that we didn't need to worry to much about threads dissapearing cuz we had lots of disc space and ram, and 2 monster processors, or was it 1.. _________________ Smoke-em if you got-em I do.. |

Well these threads are even older than this incarnation of the current forums. Very old.

Uh .. well ... yeah. Good catch! This is actually the Humanitarian Projects forum. I moved everything else out to a new forum and renamed it. It just seemed simpler that way.

These threads seem to be gone now, so I'll delete the thread soon. Many thanks to Sir Ercewee for hosting them for so long!

Ha... I'm surprised they were up so long anyway... (That was one of my student accounts, which should have become inactive when I graduated in 2004). I think they only became unavailable one or two months ago.
I'll consider putting them up on a new website. I still have all the data available (somewhere
). I'll look for it this weekend. _________________ 50.110 144.300 432.200 1296.200 2320.200 10368.200 |

I'm not sure how much trouble it's worth, but there were a few gems in there. If you find them that would be cool, otherwise we'll just make new ones.

I just came across my old stash of saved threads from the WSmith forum days. I'm not quite sure what to do with them. Maybe I'll set up something on Google Sites and put it all out there. It will be a primitive solution, but at least people could see them. |

Sir Hamster, if you don't feel like setting anything up I still have my old free Tripod account and 20mb space to use.
http://lfnshellym.tripod.com/index.html
If you want we could devote that entirely to archived threads as space allows. Let me know if you'd like to do that and I'll give you the log in and password as well so that you can design a bit and put them up there, or I can do it.
I've probably still got my old geocities account too but can't remember the log in for that at the moment. It was just lucky that I remembered the Tripod one.
Or I've got plenty, and I mean plenty, of space available at my offprofile site (pay for that one but get heaps of web space). There's even a DC bit there, or there will be when I've redesigned that page and put it back up. _________________ My brain hurts.
