For all of you that have wives/husbands/sig. others/opinionated llamas, how do you convince them to allow you to keep shrubbing?

I'm using the family pc and I think my wive is just holding her tongue to let me keep it on shrubbing all this time. I keep telling her it's my new hobby and it's still cheaper than a lot of other hobbies I could be doing. But I'm in the process of planning on building a new system and therefore would have two systems running in the house. I can see the argument for the electric bill coming. Rolling Eyes

So, how do you guys do it? Is there any Jedi mind tricks out there???

There's always the sheno money (she know nothin' about it) you can use. You just have to be creative in how and when you use it. #evil

You're a wise and devious man #ni-1

My wife's been pretty tolerant, but I made sure she has a nice machine for herself, too.

As did I, and also make sure she get a few of the things she really wants as well.

LOL, here's some salt for your wounds... I told my g/f what I was going to say in my reply before I typed it.

But I did help her get her first new car ever just 2 months ago, so I've got lots of points on the plus side still. Wink

I had posted this at SETI a while back...seems appropriate now...

It is actually really easy...

Step 1.
Own a business that she doesn't work at.

Step 2.
Have all of the parts delivered to the business.

Step 3.
Go home for lunch every day (easy for me, I live 3 miles away, about 7 minutes).

Step 4.
Build in 20 minute bursts of energy on your lunchtime. It helps if you always buy the same case, MB, etc., then it becomes really familiar to you.

Step 5.
Stash it on the rack in the basement with the other ones. Once the rack is full, it is easy to 'upgrade' a case with a new CPU. The # of cases stays the same, but the output is greater.

Step 6.
Hide the electric bill when it comes.

Step 7.
Most important...make sure that you pay the bills and always get the mail. If this doesn't work, save some 'mad' money and pay cash. However, all of my builds have been when I had the spare money. Now that the electric bills are over $300 a month with the AC on, I only have 1 PC running at home. When it cools off, I will restart some of the quaddies to heat the basement.

See, they are all the same....yeah, right...

easy....

live on your own......

cheaper all round, and you can offset the hardware costs / electricity bills / time against the running costs of said other half....

(now there are some "fringe benefits" that you miss out on, but when you're married, those are few and far between anyway, so it those become less applicable)....

Well, don't say anything but I just ordered the rest of a new system that should be up and running in a week or so.

She knows that I ordered, just not what. Twisted Evil
