AC hasn't been turned on yet...we had temps in the 50s this weekend...gotta heat the house someway...

I am planning on backing off on the ATI cards now...plan on adding only GTX200 series from now on...

We,ve been from the mid 80's to mid 90's here and dropping into the mid to upper 60,s at night.

PS.... i run them 24/7/365
In the summer my electric bill is around 160 to 180. We are a family of 5 though. That's alot of cooking and laundry. We do try to do alot of our cooking outside though in the summer.

The home farm stands at 8 machines, 3 w/ GTX260s, 2 ATI3850s, and 1 ATI4850...6 quads, 1 i7, and 1 Pentium D...power bills are about $210/month, and jump to $325+ if the AC is running, which is the reason the farm shuts down when the AC comes on...

EDIT: Just saw your edit...family of 4, but the wife and kids like to leave the lights on..."But I was going back in there..." Yeah...when???

I totally understand. I hear the same. I started charging them all a quarter for every time I had to turn off a light that they left on. I did go through the house and change all the bulbs out to CFL's and installed a ceiling fan in all rooms. I keep the A/C set at 75F. Any warmer than that and I can't sleep worth a crap. Even directly under a fan on high.

Oh hell yea...They make all the difference in the world. They help even out the teperature throughout the house. Once that's done the A/C will be much more efficient. In my den where the crunchers are the temp used to hover around 79-80 after the fan was installed the room is 74-76 and it's the farthest room from the thermostat. I have the thermostat for the house set to 75. Add that to the CFL bulbs not putting out much heat and it makes a big difference.

Congrats Randy #ni-1 I've got to get my farm sorted out and switch some cards around again. There's a trio of 3850's and a 4850 sitting in a cabinet because I don't have a spare machine to put them in. Bumping up to 3 GTX 260's has certainly helped with GPU Grid, though.

Switching around the video cards certainly paid off. I had 160k in MW at 6 am and that was with one machine shutting down at 2 am with a driver error. Of course, now I'm short a 260 for GPU grid Rolling Eyes I actually tried installing 3 260's in my i7. Talk about a tight fit Shocked

You know if you can't get all those ATI cards in you can send them over to me. I have one system with onboard graphics i can put one in and my two quads still have more room as well.

Very Happy I'm down to three 3850's in the cabinet now along with a 260. I have slots for a couple of the 3850's, I just don't know if it really does any good to have multiple ATI cards in a machine with MW. I had a pair of 4870's in one box, but didn't get any additional work so I swapped a 260 out for it.
