|
|
Please vote for the project that you prefer for Project of The Month from the list above. The concept is KWSN members should allocate as many crunching assets to that project as feasible during the month of June.
When entering the voting booth, please consider the the following:
Prime Grid is running a special challenge for 9 days during June. That means any other project will most likely be short-changed by 9 days due to kanigits pursuing said challenge. Vote very VERY carefully!

I voted for tatas@home...
Rumor said it's gonna be a vault project soon...

Now that's a project I'd love to crunch for! _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

I was shrubbing that project recently, it may not be the best choice.

But there is no "FORE!"
I voted for "Modelling sub-atomic behavior of bubbles in PGGB's", cos it should involve much practical testing of the results.

I'm not voting for them...Sounds like they've taken my own source code and improved it and that just wouldn't do !!!

OK, I'm all for doing some Prime Grid although I probably won't be able to get my puny machine to do the challenge. I'll still try some of the normal stuff. But how do I know this is not just another:
Quote: | Welcome to the group stooper! The project of the month is SZTAKI.
Yeah Sztaki. He he he *snicker* *snicker*
Go SZTAKI!!!!! |
Or was that just some kind of new-guy initiation?

No worries - it gave me a chance to think that my small contribution was actually noticeable. I'm going to take this opportunity to stand on my tiny little pedestal and brag (maybe for the one and only time) that I have more shrubs in a project than more than a few fine, up-standing and notable knights!
Now that that's over, everybody better look out for my mighty Athlon 64 once I get on PrimeGrid! Make way and what not...

Any particular PrimeGride application we're all going to crunch for the month, other than PSP LLR for the Challenge? Or is that the application we're gonna run for the whole month?

Any application that you want. They all count towards the same team.

It's a nine day challenge for PSP LLR starting on the 12th.
<SNIP>
Welcome to PrimeGrid's Birthday/Summer Solstice Challenge
While the Challenge is still quite some time away, we wanted to prepare everyone for the intensity of doing LLR testing on such large numbers. PSP LLR is currently testing n>7M which can produce a 2M+ digit prime.
This Challenge will definitely live up to its definition...it will truly be challenging. It will be like running a constant "stress test" on your computer for 9 days straight. Solid, well cleaned and cooled computers will be a necessity. Good hardware will "rule the day".
As for the psychology of the Challenge, patience will be the virtue needed if you wish to participate. The average WU is 50 hours long (range: 28hrs to 100hrs). So, you can see the importance of having stable hardware.
------------------------------------
ATTENTION: The primality program LLR is CPU intensive; so, it is vital to have a stable system with good cooling. It does not tolerate "even the slightest of errors." Please see this post for more details on how you can "stress test" your computer. WU's will take ~30-35 hours on fast/newer computers and 50-90 hours on slower/older computers. If your computer is highly overclocked, please consider "stress testing" it. Sieving is an excellent alternative for computers that are not able to return valid LLR results.
Application builds are available for Linux 32 bit and Windows 32 bit. These applications will be sent to 64 bit clients. As with all LLR application projects, there is no advantage of 64 bit over 32 bit.
