OK, I've never run PG. I have two 64 bit XP Pro quads to attach. Are there any preferences I need to know about?

yep,
under primegrid preferences make sure that
Prime Sierpinski Problem (Sieve) is set to yes. and all others are set to no., and wait until after the challenge has started to request your tasks not before. _________________ Oh, it's blessed are the meek!, Well I'm glad they'll get something as they have a hell of a time!

The challenge will begin 29 April 2009 18:00 UTC and end 1 May 2009 18:00 UTC. Application builds are available for Linux 32 & 64 bit and Windows 32 & 64 bit. Note: 64 bit Windows and 64 bit Linux benefit from a 1.7X speed advantage over 32 bit...so 1.7X the credit.

From the PG website here. |
well lookie there... I've suddenly obtained some ubuntu boxes!... wubi's pretty impressive for getting up and running... i did have to change /etc/hostname for all my boxes as it defaults to ubuntu , which confused the primegrid server no end...
it even works on macs running bootcamp... _________________ Oh, it's blessed are the meek!, Well I'm glad they'll get something as they have a hell of a time!

Thanks Sir Brian!
I got both boxes attached. They both downloaded 1 w/u each. Camelot3 got a PSP Seive unit and The Black Beast got a PSP LLR. I have both set to no new tasks for now. I hope i'm at home when the challenge starts. I'f not, they'll have to wait till I do get home.
I set prefferences as you suggested. I got the LLR unit before I got it all set up. _________________

Quote: | Recommendation: The PSP (Sieve) application requires a one time download of a 10MB sieve file. Please consider running a few PSP WU's before the Challenge begins so your client will already have the sieve file. This way, bandwidth can be used to deliver WU's instead of the sieve file. Thank you! |
