Our Seti team is now in the process of being Hijacked. We have 11 days to correct this problem with Berkley before some one not on the team has control of our Seti team along with the Email address of every member of the KWSN Seti team.
This situation is Unacceptable.
As a group we need to find a way to secure our Shrubberies and Members from Risk....

Well generally the team founder is about one of three people (me, Toby, and someone else). Now I do not know what is going on with SETI. Can you see who requested the change? It has to be someone on the team. Also the Founder has to be notified and then respond or else they lose the designation. Not my favorite part about BOINC, but Dr. A seems to like it.

Strange I was under the impression only a member of the team could request a change. If it happens I will initiate the transfer myself, so the original Knight, our founder can take it over again.

Checklist For Adding BOINC Founder/Captain Contact Info - Alphabetical [A-M]
When you look at the BOINCStats site under Project overview for "The Knights Who Say Ni!", you see BOINC combined, followed by each project they track. On each project, you can click on the 'Graph' Icon and see Detailed statistics for
"The Knights Who Say Ni!", right? We need to ask BOINCStats to show the Team Founders and whatever else may help in keeping such from happening again! I'd guess we can start with the Team IDs and Date Founded. (Is the Team ID just the team's ranking?) Sorry if all this is not needed, but I'm just trying to help...

Can someone post on the SETI message board and find out if they can stop someone who is not part of the team from taking it over? I would but it seems you need a certain amount of credit to post and I guess 15K is not enough credit to post anything on their forums.

You will not be able to get the team back if Bino54 defends it by responding to the Email. The transfer only takes place if the Founder agrees or does not respond.

But we as a team need to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Having a non-active founder or one that can't actually receive Emails is courting disaster.
A mis-configured Spam filter could cost us a project.............

Anyone trying a hostile takeover on THIS team is lilely to get a lot more than they bargained for! 
It would appear you have the situation well in hand. Is there any more specific help needed? Boil water? Clean sheets?? Make it a sticky post??? Anything!!!

See, there's 2 problems I see with this setup right off the bat:
- The original founder was on vacation when it happened. The rationale could be if the person ceased doing BOINC it could allow it to fall to other hands. Only problem is anyone could put in the request; someone comes back from a few weeks vacation and well... I've even known people to travel overseas for a month out of the year.
- A former team member, joins up with another team, and orchestrates a hijack with someone on their new team. They retained ownership when this happened.
Messy yes. But no less messy then when a former class mate of mine made the mistake of providing access to his school's email address to his former girl friend (they weren't former at the time). When they broke up, she logged into his email, sent a nasty gram to the president of the college willed with about every swear word known to man, and got him expelled from school. Hey, it can happen with some people  |
