LONDON (AP) -- Britain's best-known time traveler is ending his journey.
The BBC has announced that Scottish actor David Tennant will leave long-running science fiction series "Doctor Who" in just over a year.

What about William Hartnell, John Pertwee and Patrick Troughton? ???
Some of us have seen them all  I still love William Hartnell's because the kid in me remembers he was "THE DOCTOR"!

They were good but Tom Baker was my fave until Chris Eccleston. I thought Chris Eccleston was the best and was most disappointed when he only did one season. I was determined not to like the next Doctor...boy, was I wrong.
I love the quirkiness and boyish enthusiasm of David as the Doctor. Brilliant!
Doctor Who was one of my favourite shows on tv when I was a kiddie. Missed most of it from the late teens onwards. That would have been between Tom Baker and Chris Eccleston, although I did see the movie.
(Don't get the age calculator out! I've stayed on 29 for a while now. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.  )

The Waters of Mars is the next 2009 episode of the Doctor.
There's a write-up online somewhere about the anagram of this title, as they seem to do a lot.
(The Spin-Off, Torchwood, is an anagram of Doctor Who)
The Waters of Mars = War of the Masters
Let's see what happens! But we gotta wait until November...  |

Ohhh, when - I just love than Gwen with her funny accent and gap between her teeth  And is it being shown sooner in the civilised part of the country that I live in compared to somewhere need "Iceni" (and can I have some more beer from the brewery pleaaaaassseee) - Nolfolk (I presume), maybe Suffolk (on the edge).

Shown at 9pm on Beeb 1 and HD this week (first one was today)
I'm a few miles north of where the Iceni water comes from so no chance of being NFN...

David Tennant will make a guest appearance as the Doctor in the new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures, it has been confirmed.
The Time Lord will reunite with his one-time companion Sarah Jane Smith, played by Elisabeth Sladen, for a two-episode stint in the upcoming third series of the kids spinoff.
"Viewers thought they may have to wait until November for the next full episode of Doctor Who, but this is an extra special treat," said Russell T Davies, executive producer on The Sarah Jane Adventures. "And it's not just a cameo from David - this is a full on appearance for The Doctor as he and Sarah Jane face their biggest threat ever."
Sladen added: "When I heard the news that David was going to be joining us I was absolutely over the moon. Not only has it made my day but it will also make the viewers' day. It's fantastic news that Sarah Jane is going to spend some time working with The Doctor again and is testament to just how successful this CBBC series is."
The 12-episode series, airing on CBBC in the Autumn, also features new reptilian race The Veil and enemies The Judoon, as well as an alien girl with the ability to make people play games against their will.
As previously reported, robotic companion K-9 will also return for the new series.
Tennant's stint - in episodes five and six - will come before his final three episodes playing the Doctor in the parent show. |
