|
|
Yes, and it was my husband's idea, not mine, mind you.
It will be my 10th wedding anniversary, (and my daughter is now 12 thank you, do the math), but it will also be my husband and my 31st Valentine's Day together. We met before conception....(I wish)
So, it's been quite the year for me, and I don't know whether this is the spot to post it all, but heck, why not... here are some highlights!
Last February 2, 2008 my father died.
My daughter started her period in March 2008.
March 13th, 2008 I turned 50
End of March into beginning of April 2008 we went for our first vacation to Disney World. Husband and daughter had a great time going on the rides, I had a great time not having to cook and as I'm allergic to everything, and all the chefs came out and made me fantastic food I could actually eat, 3 meals a day. For me, it was truly a luxury and a vacation that was really fun.
April 30th some bozo drove through 3 red lights going 90 mph on a motorcycle, and hit our car with my husband and daughter inside. There was an angel present, for although our car, (a RAV4), was totaled, 1) my husband had only a slight concussion and glass fragments in his eyes, but there was NO scarring on the parts of his cornea's through which he sees, 2) Hannah was only shaken up, no physical injuries, but her OCD is more crazy and 3) the idiot didn't kill himself. They were home with me that same night, the idiot got air-lifted to Boston for smushing himself.
My daughter OCD's is now rampant with the fear of another car accident, which the insurance company will not cover... *sigh* -- In September 2008 the guy went to court - for failure to stop, failure to stop for a police officer (he was trying to avoid them, it wasn't a chase, he just took off), driving without a license, driving without a registration, using someone else's registration, speeding, and reckless driving where the judge put him on probation for 1 year, loss of license - 1 year, and $500 retribution which he still hasn't paid. Thank you Judge! That's really great of you! (Ooops, is my sarcasm showing?
May 2008 was recovery and dealing with the entire nightmare.
June-July 2008 - I can't remember.
August 2008 - We bought our very first home. We stole it actually. It was a short sale that was going up for foreclosure. The previous owner paid $330,000 and we bought it for $220,000. I'm not sure if it's worth anything now, but it's nice to have one after all these years.
September 2008 - My daughter got the chicken pox, even though she had the vaccine. Doctor said this was common. She was covered and still has scars on her back from it. She thought it was mosquito bites at first.. so she missed the first two weeks of school!
October 2008 - My 17 year old cat Orange Guy died of kidney failure. I was a mess.
November - We got a new kitten. His name is Wicket. I am smitten by my kitten.
December - 2008 Happy 1st Christmas in my own home. It was hectic buy nice.
January 26th - Year of Rat ends, Year of Ox begins....
and February 2009 finds me sporadically back with all of you.
Thanks for the welcome back. It's nice to know that there are still some constants in the universe besides laundry.

Wow... Seems like it was a year mixed of sorrow and happiness... I'm happy you and your entire family came out okay of the horrible accident...
Again, Welcome back, and thanks for the yearly report, it would be nice to have you around once again!
Hopefully this year will be even better than last year! For you and for all the other loonies out there! _________________ Anyone for Crunch?

Welcome back (I've missed the Haikus).
I can only echo Idan's hopes that this year has all the highs without the lows.
(and genuinely looking forward to your being around a bit more.)

I'm sorry that 2008 was such a tough year for you (especially your Dad (RIP) and the accident (Thank God your husband and Daughter are fine)).
It sounds like 2009 is off to a much better start, you are back here!
Welcome back! I hope that 2008 was the low point of your life and it is nothing but uphill from there! _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

Thanks for all your kind wishes.
I don't know that it was a low point... just a very active point, both good and bad, and terribly exhausting.
You know how sometimes you think life is boring, day in and day out doing the same things over and over, and you wish something would happen to stop the humdrum monotony of your life, well, STOP THAT! For what may happen may not be someting that you actually want to happen.
Who knows, you may find a singing frog... "Hello my baby, hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal...."

First of all, I am glad you are all safe and well now. You went through a lot last year and I hope this year will be much better for you and your family.
Secondly, Happy Anniversary! May you have many more. Coincidentally, it is mine too...with KWSN...I first joined on this date in 2001. Had a lenghty hiatus but now I am back and your kind welcome on my newbie thread is appreciated.
Last but not least...MEGA NI'S!! _________________ Oops, that didn't work...how hot can a CPU get? This one is smoldering!

Holy Moly! I am impressed with everyone's memory. I cannot even remember what I did last week much less all year. And I definitely, cannot remember when I joined KWSN. I think it was Summer of 2001. But I could be way off base. All I remember is that I was so shy that I barely said two words in the beginning.
Congrats on the anniversary. May your lives be long and prosperous. _________________ |----Ni---Ni----|

Congrats on your milestone anniversary.
The wife and I will celebrate 25 years of marriage in August of this year. We will be in Orange County, as there will be an AlFest ("Weird Al" Festival) going on.
It was a lot of hard and good times to make it this far. |

Lady K, it sounds like you had a very busy and stressful year.
I'm so sorry to hear about your father. We know it's something that we all have to face eventually, but knowing that doesn't make it any easier to deal with.
I'm glad that your husband and daughter weren't badly injured in the car accident. What a horrible for all of you! Hopefully, your daughter's OCD will settle down with a bit of time and patience.
Well, at least I know now who gave me chicken pox! Would you believe I had chicken pox in September too? I think it was September...or was it late August? It's weird because I didn't get it years ago when both my kids had it.
Anyway, it's really nice to see you back here and I'm sure that this year is going to much, much better!
