Pirates was complaining today that in two months I won't be able to download work until I upgrade to the new Boinc. As I do system updates on mondays anyway I'll be upgrading that as well. It might be good for others to upgrade as well before the other projects start requiring it. Unless Pirates is special in which case they should walk the plank.

My Dr. Horrible DVD is in, so I must invite people over to watch!

Pirates is ALWAYS saying you have X number of days to upgrade to some future version of BOINC.

Just as a note, if you run X64 Windoze, do not upgrade to 6.4, 6.5, or 6.6.
I have opened a Boinc Trak ticket: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/814#comment:8 which describes the problem.
When installed as a service on Windoze XP Pro X64, the BoincMgr will not exit properly when you try and close it,
it hangs up and uses 1/4 of your available CPU doing nothing. It must then be killed with the task manager.
Notes-
1) Does not affect the science Apps.
2) The BoincMgr can be minimized (File/Close Windows) without any problems, it is only File/Exit that causes the problem.

Haven't tried any of the new Linux versions. I am still running 5.10.99 (my home-brew with FairBench). It is a version of 5.10.8 that I cooked up that runs the benchmarks as "stand alone" tasks which returns benchmark results that are the same for Linux as they are for Windoze. I got tired of getting cheated by the Boinc benchmarking errors on Linux on projects that do not use fixed credits. I suppose I should cook up a new version, but 6.x is still shot full of errors and problems (IMHO).

I am having an issue with it. I upgraded one box, and it stopped letting me remote in with boinc manager. I set it to allow remote hosts again and all that, however the problem is in the init script. When I reverted back to the old script everything works as advertised.

I have little confidence in the new init script, I found several coding errors and a couple of spelling mistakes in it, I just haven't figured out which part is causing my problem. ARGH.
