Fun with stats:
* The old 3 GHz Intel P4 is still the most used CPU. (As a note, the Intel Q6600 gets cheated- it is broken down into the Rev 1 & 2 versions, total=317).
* 3 brave souls are attempting to run Windoze 7.

Now there is a brave soul! Are you sure you couldn't find a 286 to try it on?

From what I have read, Windows 7 (which it isn't ) is basically just a Vista upgrade. I would be very surprised if a p4 could even boot it up. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Hum- Right you are- it is NT V6.1.x, I guess the marketing people wouldn't go for Vista SP 2 or Windows 6.1, and the developers wouldn't buy Windows 7.0

Is that a list over currently active processors, or accumulated processors over time?
If it is active processors then I think it's interesting to see that the vast majority is still older single core architectures (no, HT does not count ).
It is also interesting to see so many using older operating systems like Win98, Me and 2000.
I see great potential for improvement here |

I won't knock Win2K (as Windoze systems go), it runs a lot less junk in the background by default than XP. _________________

Yep, cant agree with you more. I have one machine that leads a double life as Win2k on weekdays and WinXP on weekends.
The average time per credit running the same MB client seems to be longer on the WinXP by quite a bit. _________________
