Merry Meet All, I say Ni! unto you.

Whilst perusing the KWSN Orbiting Fortress, I discovered a link to some skookum looking apps to handle Astropulse 5.0 modules more efficiently. Or so I gather. The link is: http://lunatics.kwsn.net/

If my next few questions sound like I'm a bit of a noob, forgive me. Hardware moves fast in this biz, especially if you're out of the loop for even a few months sometimes.

The app speaks of utilizing SSE & SSE3 capable (or Higher) PC's running Windows. Sounds like CPU talk to me. I've got an Intel Core2 Duo 2.19Mhz w/4gigs of RAM on my latest system. Would it benefit me to download this or is it primarily meant for server-class hardware and above?

I'd sure love to speed up the Astropulse units. #ni-2

Cheers,
Phoenix Very Happy

Greetings SirPhoenix,

Papa Smurf recently gave me this link to help me determine everything about my cpu and get the right version of the SETI optimized app. It may do the same for you.

You are quite welcome! I'm glad I could help. Thank Papa Smurf (He'll be around shortly), he gave me the link first.

Thanks, Papa Smurf!

I haven`t actually installed it yet... busy guy and all, but I know for sure at least one of my computers should run it no problem. Is it like a standalone application or does it tie into the BOINC manager like some kind of optimized subroutine?

Also, for some reason my keyboard (standard US) doesn`t seem to mapped to the characters I get when I post on this site. Some are fine, some are not. Bizarre...

Zoop! Ok, I put it in, didn`t seem to make much difference. One Astropulse wu seems to want about 60 hrs. no matter how I slice it. Dunno... I think the install went ok, once I found the dang folder on my Vista 64 system. Rolling Eyes

Jeez, why can`t we go back to the simple days when a word processor weighed 75 lbs, computers took up entire subdivisions and used enough electricity to power a nuclear submarine? Very Happy

Anyhoo, there will be more questions, I just pray your patience keeps up, lol! Thanks everyone for all the input!

Ni unto you,
Phoenix Smile
