Playing around moving over to Linux on my main machine-
I've discovered that BoincView will run under Linux using Wine.
1) Install Wine
2) Setup drives using winecfg (in my case my my Windoze E drive maps to H).
3) wine "H:\Software Storage\BOINC\boincview\boincview.exe"

Looks and works just like it did in Windoze. Very Happy

I guess I'll skip boincview. Installed via wine. Very sluggish, and unresponsive. And oddly, when using the mouse to select things on the screen causes the boincview window to slowly drift.

The kicker though is the wineserver and boincview between them eat up WAY to much resources. The regular boinc manager uses almost none.

Anyone know of a better program for monitoring multiple computers?

Nope, as a matter of fact it has been discussed that since Boinc View is no longer being supported that we Knights should write and distribute a manager ourselves...

It's well beyond my capabilities but I would be interested in testing..... #ni-1

The BoincView problem is actually a Boinc problem that the developers are aware of and are working on (They broke it by mistake):

That being said, I still wish that Amanheis would open source the project as he has not made any changes or responded to any posts in over a year now.

Has anyone from here emailed/gotten ahold of him recently asking about the source code?

And

I'll go poke around when I get home, but is the source code for the boinc manager available? Maybe we can tweak that enough to satisfy us. I'm rather rusty, but willing to poke at it a bit. Or at least help.
