I'll write the Nuts' story at some point. I'll also cover Q as the Nuts' were involved in that too. _________________ KWSN Forum Admin

The one I miss the most is Sir Hazy. Most of the others were before my time. Sir Hazy was the central figure in the teams rise up the Genome at Home (G@H) ranks . He lives in MD last I recall.

How about Den Store Meister ?
I shall root around for past posts regarding Q , but there are others much more qualified than Grizz here , who actually participated in the enormous joke . I just sat back in total amazement and laughted off my chair ALL night , just following the progress of Q in a very well known DC Project over 24 hours , jumping from forum to forum to read the comments made on them about Q . There was no cheating involved , but it did rock the DC world and changed scoring protocol in later projects .

I joined in mid 1999 when I was Crabbleboys
A name I have dropped as I no longer frequent the Crabble. Though I have drifted I always seem to return.
Looney Magnet(tm)?
Wasn't Brock around that time?
Maybe someone could write about the incident with the Italians Farty?? _________________ Crabbypatty

Copied from New and Departing Members ... a sad and unexpected departure.

OK , though this might be difficult - in order to protect the identities of past/present members of KWSN , (and other team members) here is what I remember .
Q .
Some years ago (about eight ) , when SETI was really the only DC project of note , KWSN were competing (amonst others) with the team known as "PinkCardigans" by KWSN ( Team Picard from Star Trek affiliation) . They had a VERY large contribution to SETI (clasic) . They are still around today , but fragmented into separate teams , most of NOTE today as the team that does DC Vault (Ninjas) . (Hi Chelle - Where is Data today ? ){ not KWSN members dear readers}
However :
Someone (I do not know who - but was probably a member of KWSN ) , discovered a way of SERIOUSLY [ and LEGALLY by the rules then ] of ramping the SETI production over a very short period . I am talking about a time when even a BIG farm could not do ~1000 a day in SETI - Q ramped this to take almost every record around to get (in DAYS) so high that questions were asked about the scoring system in SETI . (Note , this was the first time that KWSN got the scoring rules changed in the DC world by having fun ) ::: Seti Germany consolidated this change by "cheating" two years later . KWSN did not cheat then or ever - just read the rules .
I was not an inner circle of KWSN , so the FUN and GAMES that resulted from the SETI Q ramp was so great that I was logged onto KWSN and PinkCardigans boards for over 14 hours (remember the dial-up @ lottsa money/minute ?) Everyone reading those boards could not belive the progress that Q was making - in realish time - more production per hour than the big teams could do in a day !
Of course this was all set up by a pre-challenge (Taunt) by KWSN to Picard .
The way of doing this is well documented at the SETI (clasic) archive .
Go look and GRIN .
Many others are more qualified than Grizz to tell the full story .

I remember the Q incident and even shrubbed with the Pink Cardigans they're more fragmented than any team ever one day they'll account for half the total teams running boinc
Didn't Ars Technica also have a rather large cheating problem? _________________ Crabbypatty

The return of Ender (sangamon) has prodded me to start thinking about this project again. That, and I found copies of some of the OLD threads. Here's a name to be remembered:
The Lovely Rachael!
How could I have forgotten her? I'll have to do some digging on this one. |

The previous post has now been deleted, and is no longer the previous post. Therefore, the prior post that was previous to the formerly previous post is now the previous post and does not need to be deleted due to the previous deletion of the previously prior post. I think. _________________ -- Have you seen my goat? |
