hmm... nuke yields of the various bombs in service have decreased since i last researched them....
ok, as of 2002 (latest data i have available), there were 20190 warheads...
my rough guess as to total MTs from looking at US and Russian force loadouts....
5000 MTs for the world's nuke weapons.....
lets say 2.1 x 10^23 joules. _________________

Per the NOAA, a hurricane releases energy at the rate of between 5 x 10^13 watts and 2 x 10^14 watts...
http://www.aoml.noaa.gov/hrd/tcfaq/C5c.html
1 watt is 1 joule / sec.
in 10 min, there are 600 sec,
so at the maximum rate of 2x10^14 watts, thats an energy release of 1.2x10^17 joules...
There is a LOT more energy present *IN* the hurricane at any one given instant, but it is released rather slowly...
so world's nukes vs. 10 min. of a hurricane... the nukes win. _________________

I just had an evil thought on WHY that statement is true...
In a given 10 minute period... A hurricane WOULD release more energy than the world's nuclear weapons, cause the nukes AINT being used!!...

Ah, yes, but I have to question the Marilyn Monroe's toes comment.
6 toes altogether? 3 per foot? or 6 per foot? Perhaps she didn't have an echo either.... |

I did NOT leave out the brits... I mentioned them.. British PM Chamberlain and his 'peace in our time' appeasement of Hitler.... It took the Nazi Hordes goosestepping all over Europe causeing trouble for the Brits to get religion and put someone with some BALLZ in as PM... W. Churchhill. For most of the time since, especially back when the Iron Lady was PM, the Brits have kicked ass and taken names..... But between WWI and WWII, they was just as much a buncha wimps as the rest of Old Europe seems to be now.
Remember, history has shown us that appeasement of evil men does NOT work. They take it as a sign of weakness, and will stab you in the ass first chance they get.
And about Norma's... deformity... It must give you guys/gals a real good feeling to make fun of someone else's physical problems... Especially when they have passed away (or as I feel, been murdered). Be ashamed of yourselves. _________________

But I'm still unclear on this matter. Did she have 3 toes per foot or 6 toes per foot? With 3, then those little shoes would have been nothing to wear, but with 6, ouch! just the thought squiches my tootsies up. Really, which is it?

1 ok
2 i don't think we are ashamed
3 i don't think we have a need to be ashamed really
4
5 who said we were making fun?
6 i think lady k has a valid point
it's a matter of concern...
possible scenarios:
L R
3 3
6 6
5 6
6 5
i guess...
1 5
5 1
2 4
4 2
or in which case
6 1
6 2
6 3
6 4
6 7
6 ...
and therefore
1 6
2 6
3 6
4 6
7 6
... 6
i probably left some possible solutions out... _________________ I'm folding at my house (folding at home). Trying ever so diligently to get as menny points as millenium knight does in one week. WISH ME LUCK!

Once those shorts reach a certain mass, I am sure that they become deformed...

I hestitate to respond to MK's well stated comments, because I don't have the time to do it properly. However, I would add that the U.S. has been also been guilty of appeasement and of supporting evil regimes. I don't think we need to name names. If the implied criticism is fair, then the U.S. is guilty too.

Well said Sir SHoE , Suez anyone ?? (Amongst Many)
I shall not pursue this .
Sir Kong , I agree with you on most things , but your appeasement arguement here is , umm , flawed .
