Yes, I improved my daily output by app. 2 - 2.5K credits. But now I am not 100% sure if it is thanks to adding this line to those text files, or because I freed one CPU core for GPU tasks

It seems that you MUST have a CPU core free to shrub 2 GPU tasks at once or increase GPU % ... ???
I see this tidbit in the Lunatics read.me
Quote: | Tuning cmd line parameters:
For AP: If you get lags or worse driver restarts, decrease unroll. If you run
stable you can try to increase it. ffa_block should be a multiple of ffa_block_fetch.
Start low e.g. -ffa_block 4096 -ffa_block_fetch 2048 and try increasing if it runs
fine. Sticking to the power of 2 line at first can help.
There will be a system specific best combination - too low slows you down, too high
slows you down as well.
Remember AP runtimes depend on blanking % so only compare runtimes on similar
blanking %.
For MB: other way round - if you experience lag or driver restarts increase
-period_iterations_num |
I don't have these 2 files>>?? ap_cmdline_6.06_windows_intelx86__opencl_ati.txt
mb_cmdline-7.03-opencl_ati_sah5.txt
The other two I DO have.
Here is further info on AP parameters I found.
Quote: | High end cards (more than 12 compute units)
-unroll 12 -ffa_block 8192 -ffa_block_fetch 4096
Mid range cards (less than 12 compute units)
-unroll 10 -ffa_block 6144 -ffa_block_fetch 1536
entry level GPU (less than 6 compute units)
-unroll 4 -ffa_block 2048 -ffa_block_fetch 1024
Your mileage might vary. |
I still am not convinced I should try this with my crappy lil' 4870.
Since my numbers could not get much worse than today, I'm going to try to free up a CPU core to see what happens. _________________
