I figured something was gonna happen. I got 68k out of the blue yesterday...much higher than usual, and I don't even have top of the line cards. Not that I'm complaining tho; it got me over 500k for GPUGrid and over 900k for total credits...should hit 1mil in a few days!

with my 3 9800's and 1 8800 I think I will settle in somewhere about 225,000 a week. The other projects must be Apoplectic
It took me 7 years to get my first million in combined, now it will take about a month each _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Btw: I happened to touch my box that contains 2 cards the other day and it almost burned me. The case was hotter than any computer I have ever known. Almost as hot as an Oven....
Check your Fan speeds and kick them up. I have mine running at 80% for boxes with one card and at 100% for the one with 2 cards. temps now in the high 50's. I also added 3 fans. |
Yeah the default 40% dosen't quite cut it....
as for my 2 card box..I had to but a new case yesterday to fit it all in...
went for a hiper osiris... a little more descrete thean those Antec900's....3 12 cm fans and the PSU at the bottom... does a good job in keeping things cool....

I don't see how he can complain .... there's only seti and it gives out the same, if GPUGrid was granting more, then he'd have grounds......

Oh no Seti does not give the same credit...
my rac with the 8800 was 1600 at most on Seti, and that was with the cpu credits as well.
On GpuGrid the same card gets 4600 and it is still going up _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

If GPUGrid doesn't come back up soon, I'll have to do the same. _________________

Does anyone know how to set the SETI preferences to only run the CUDA apps and not the standard CPU apps? I don't want it to hog my POEM crunchers!

yes indeedy,
go to your account on the seti site and select seti@home preferences.
Edit them
Make sure use GPU is checked.
Uncheck use CPU.
Update
Drink many PGGBs

I have one Windows machine that has dual-8800's; takes about 10 minutes per GPU WU. The other machines are all linux and now the graphics cards are just sitting there...doing nothing.

It's a good time to disconnect them, take them outside and blow out the dust.

Are you trying to say my house is dirty?! j/k
Actually, I just performed the Dust Bunny Removal and Disposal Process™ a couple days ago. Having a couple of cats keeps me on my toes where that's concerned. Although, it's been raining all morning, so a good washing out may be in order.
