So, I have to cancel already downloaded units (also the one which is running since morning) when I get back from work |
I just let 'em finish (Unless they never STARTED!) - I figger Results are more important than Points anyways - I get whut they GIVE me... _________________

should get a crazy amount of runtime with these 2 units. both have run 20+ hrs already and only 27-37% done. Really wish boinctasks would only list the cpu time and not both things in time run because it can be annoying to remember which is which _________________

Doesn't look like I'll be a big contributor this month. They finally released a Linux build that understands my mobo and nic, so I'm building, tweaking and dancing naked in the park!
PS LLR runs great, so that's hammering away on 8 cores.
The Radeon/OpenCL and Nvidia/Cuda drivers are another story
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS does offer 6 proprietary drivers, 2 of which hosed the system and mandated a fresh install. I still have 4 more doubtful choices to wager my sanity on...
Either way, I'm grinding for Primes and farting in Mr Gate's general direction!

KWSN is currently in 8th place in the challenge. However, that does NOT include the first 4 shrubs I'll be uploading in a few hours.
As to PG overall, we're being out-crunched by the teams directly above and below us.
Milestones:
Plomos 1,700,000
Sir Superpsychafunkapuss 1,700,000
yathauser 250,000
Crabbypatty 10,000 _________________

My 8 AVX cores are doing work in just over 2.5 days. My 12 other cores are running what seems to be, 5 days, 5.5 days and 7.5 days (may get 2 out of this one).
So overall for 15 days I should get at least 64 units done, barring any problems, or large changes in crunch time.
Hint, they do have a new "test" AVX2 LLR if you are interested, but you must finish current work before using the new, then create the appropriate config files, etc.
Works well on Haswell chips, even gives Ivy and Sandy a small boost, as a cost of more watts and heat per. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

My previous estimates are off a little.
4 cores will only get 1 task done. Total 4
8 cores should easily get 2 tasks done. Total 16
8 cores should be able to get 5 tasks done. Total 40
60 units at completion. I did over estimate time because the units are growing.
11 units have been returned, 5 more should be dropped off in 10 hours or less, and 4 more within 24.
4 cores are cutting it close in time for having 2 done, but it looks like I should have the first 4 in less than 6.5-7 days time.
Oh well, what fun. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I already changed the 12 slow cores to no longer grab PSP. The slowest two will take over 8 days to finish one task per core. The 3rd finished the first set in just about 6 days and has the second set going.
My AVX boxes are crunching on par. Looking good in fact. I will keep these on the PSP after the challenge to help cleanup (and work my WUProp to 10K/Magenta).
How are your expectations going? Anyone install the new test LLR for AVX/AVX2? _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

My two boxes are chugging along happily. I will test the new app when the challenge is done. I'd have too much idle time to set it up in the middle without losing work. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Sir Pooh,
I see you have points for the Project Staging Area. I assume that's all part of PRPnet? I think I messed with that years ago (I have a bunch of points for psp sieving and psp proth from ages ago). Can you point me in a good direction to work on this?
Thanks!
Yankton

I personally would have to read up on it again. On the BOINC boards there is a Project Staging Area forum that I used to create the information needed, downloaded the package, set the config files (pretty good in telling you how), and ran it.
I deleted most of the stuff from those systems, since I knew that by the time I went to run it again (if ever), I would need to download new packages. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I have messages off to John (his account seems to be idle for a long time now) and Lennart - they seem to have been the ones in the know. There are a couple of posts about prpnet I'll have to look closer at but I was looking for a bit more detail. Maybe Lennart is still checking. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

@Yankton
Sir John posted this here about PRP http://www.kwsnforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=16640
Also i managed turning in two WUs for the challenge but my WUprop unit crashed before it could submit the hours for the second unit so i only got half the hours counted there. running PPSE now cause it needs some work and maybe i will find a prime. _________________
