Glad I got mine when I did. All 20 of my cores are busy. Although one of my machines went on about a day hiatus because of a bad KVM (feedback to the video card and not allowing the machine to boot). It's now on my bench with an old 17" tube monitor until I can replace the KVM.
It will be wild to get all these WUProp hours when done. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I had a WU error out today, not sure if I should try to get more as it would run well into next month. _________________

Kind of hard to get more when there is 0 to send out. Looks like they are in the middle of making some new models. I will be returning several in about 3 days then I will move to finish up a couple other of my personal goals, since there is no word on new models being released.
Interesting run for our team. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I did finally snag two more. I must have gotten lucky and snagged them as they re-appeared on the server. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Climate may not produce new WU's for quite a while if I understand the following thread correctly. Sounds like they pulled a large number of WU's and want the current batch completed first, i.e. not until the 61K units currently being shrubbed have been analyzed.
http://climateapps2.oerc.ox.ac.uk/cpdnboinc/forum_thread.php?id=7671
Nevertheless, production is way up from 33K earlier to 80K daily average over the past week, but that is dropping. I'm down to 4 WU's from 8, several have errored out...

So far of the 20 units I had, 6 completed successfully on my 3rd and 4th Gen i7 CPUs at around 10 days of processing time, 3 have returned with some failure. The other 11 are going to take me to the end of the month, or nearly 22 days to complete.
Those 3rd and 4th Gen i7 CPUs sure to pack a punch on many different projects. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

One finished and one failed on the new box. Haven't tried to get more. Mostly been playing games on it. Still 4 in progress on the old desktop. The oldest shrubber I still have running is linux x64. CPDN doesn't support it. Oh well. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

Are you pulling 32 bit shrubs? None of the listed applications are 64 bit for linux and when I tried anyway it told me it none for my architecture or something along that line. _________________ Some days are worse than others. |

I just noticed this is one of the few projects that still has WU graphics - click on a WU then click the "Show Graphics" button. Rotate the globe, check out the temps. Cool....

I use that feature to check the progress of the timesteps versus the total for the WU. lets me know how close it is to more points _________________

Update, of 20 units, 5 have died with some points, 6 have completed. 3 should complete in the next 12 hours and the other 6 have about 2-4 days if they complete.
1/4 errored is reasonable to me for these. I remember when I couldn't finish half of them back in the day. They have a lot of sensitivity in the models and can easily go out of bounds. Smaller models are not so bad, but these full ocean ones are rough.
In WUProp I have over 3600 hours pending for these last 9 units and I have already accumulated over 2700 hours. So lots of hours have been put into this. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

Climate Prediction is more important to KWSN than I thought since over 45 Knights earned points in the last week. Despite the frustration over lack of work in the 2nd half of the month, I'd like to see us shrub this more often once the WU's start a-flowing again.
What is your opinion of this project?

This project is a good set and forget one. No real need to babysit anything since the units take a while. Error rate is hire than many other projects, but you still get credit. It's one of the few projects with a graphics view that you can play with.
Problem is they do not always have work. They send out a bunch, then wait for many to return before sending out more. A few stragglers happen, but there are long dry times.
It is a poor payout credit wise. Most of us don't care, but we know many do.
I'd like to see us back at it again maybe before the warmer weather hits. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)
