Wellll......Doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm for this project. With the Prime Grid Challenge coming up a week from Friday, we might not get much farther this month...

1. The project's goal is dimly understood by non-mathematicians.
2. The tasks run times vary from 30 sec to 4 hrs.
3. The low points awarded are hard to get excited about. .23pt??
4. The stupid thing keeps detaching itself, aborting many half-finished tasks. I added Orbit and eOn to fill the gaps. _________________

I have not had 1 host detach, but then again, I don't use BAM or any account manager...
As far as the credit, I have run better projects, but @2400cr/day for a quad isn't bad....(at .23cr/33.77sec, as per your example)...and the 35k in pending is like money in the bank.... _________________

I also do not use BAM, I have had trouble understanding any advance math, and the credit is all right. Pending will keep us getting credit for awhile.

It feels slow after after Collatz, 3000 pts/hr.
Since I disabled BAM account manager, I haven't seen the spontaneous detachment, so I halted Orbit and eOn.

So, I noticed a few people have said they don't use BOINC(or maybe just not the account manager part). I was wondering what other ways do people usually use for their crunching? and is this just personal preference or is there some benefit to other methods?
Also, do y'all usually devote all of your resource share to the current task of the month, or just add it to the list of what you are already doing? _________________

People are generally referring to third-party account managers where you can control many aspects of your project-accounts and performance over many different installations and different projects all from one site. You can control how or what you are crunching by way of altering the resource share in the account manager. Here is the wiki: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Account_managers
Users will still have boinc installed on each computer, they just access it by way of the account manager. As to benefits... don't know haven't tried. I still attach and alter everything one PC at a time (I guess I'm kinda slow to catch up to this whole information superhighway thingy).
For PotM, I will put forth a majority on CPU time or cores during the month. But often hold a couple for personal preference/milestones. Everybody does it differently, the focus is to devote as much as you can to create a big push. This gives us of feeble attention spans something to keep our minds busy.

We passed Team Norway and Hungary to move into 13th place. We should pass Seti.USA shortly...
John Galt 007, Tiberius, and Papa Smurph made it into the Top Ten producers on the project today. KWSN moved up to # 2 producer.
Milestones:
Sir Papa Smurph passed 600,000
John Galt 007 passed 250,000
Gemjunkie passed 30,000
Sir Tiberius passed 25,000
SpineyNorman passed 10,000
KWSN crunched 39K yesterday - we can move up another place or three if all cores don't move to the PG Challenge... |

OMG my work afternoon is ruined. Is there a Peluche picture of the day web site?
Impressive memory, Gemjunkie. At least for certain things. |

Sadly, no Peluche picture of the day web site.
You have to work to remember the important stuff.
(Wish I had remembered to put the new insurance cards in the car when I renewed. )
Here's some photos from her various project profile pages from her 52 UOTD awards.
Then there's Facebook.
http://www.facebook.com/peluche.boinc
And there goes your evening.
