Ya know, come to think of it, I'm not sure the return on Collatz would be on par with MW optimized if this WU is any indication (though the total credit granted remains to be seen). It estimated 200 hours to completion, though it's falling faster then the time is accumulating. Though at 1 hour, it's only about 3.3% complete.

But the other thing, it's only running an SSE optimized app (and from the list there's no SSE2 or SSE3 app, unless they're bundled in one app). Though from my experience also Windows doesn't always detect the full features on the CPU (can be somewhat conservative at times). On the MW optimized, I can use SSE3, not just SSE (1) which helps the times. Someone else might have an idea of credits. Though at about 5-6 hours on one of these 3 stream MW units, it gives 250 credits or about 45-46 credits per hour.

I saw the same 200 hours at the start of a Collatz WU, but after 4 hours crunching and 21% done, at this point looks like it will take about 20 hours total...

Check your Boinc mesages, I had to reset FreeHAL:

Task fh_6_5941128_105386_0 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file.
If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project.

We are now tied for 9th overall, lost 3 points in Milkyway. Still tied with Russia.

We're listed as back down to 10th, and looks like we lost a place on MW.

Oh and on the WU, it is improved, but it's looking like it will take 30 hours per Collatz WU on this computer. There's 2 cores in the proc once MW is done. I'll be able to get a few units, but not that many over the 5 day period. I hope they pay really well....

It estimates 68 hours left with about 34% complete, but it was 10 hours in for about 1/3 which is how I'm estimating the rest. That's assuming it won't speed up or slow down in latter processing (which some tasks can. Climate Predictor for instance, gets a little faster from past experience as it moves into latter phases of the model).

We are tied for 8th with Russia. In the overall standings. Only 2.6 million Milkyway credits yesterday. While we approach the million mark total in FreeHAL. And Collatz had 1.6 million, only good enough for 14th place in that project.

In a couple more days the final project will start and that is Rosetta. Our current RAC is 55K and we have 38 million points overall. Which makes us 18th in Rosetta.

Yeah it's back to 8th on the display again though a few points in our favor, was showing 10th with a bit of a loss on MW, lol But Collatz moved to 13th, which is the few point lead...

I think Collatz will improve when MW ends, which should be comming soonish, though I'm not exactly sure how many hours left. It's late, I've had a long and early day today, so kinda tired to begin converting time to GMT, and then counting from there. It might be worth peeps NNT MW in the not too distant future though... Perhaps someone, for which it isn't 1 am, could get a better idea out on exactly when 10:00 on the 14th GMT will fall...

On this front, it might have helped if MW and Collatz were seperated some during the competition so both GPU projects didn't overlap on the days they're being run, but oh well. That's how they chose to establish it. But we should get some headway into Collatz once we won't have to worry about losing MW ground to get it... I'm guessing Rosseta will be the lesser granting project, so perhaps when it and Collatz overlap, that's where some should think of making headway on Collatz.

We are now 8th all on our own. We are 3 points above Russia.

If my calculations are correct, Rosetta starts at 8pm EST today and Milkyway ends at that time. So get ready for the final project and that is Rosetta.

I suggest going to the Rosetta website and selecting a 2 hour run time for the WUs...it defaults to 3 hours, but if you get an error, you won't loose as much CPU time... #ni-1

I don't know if it is the change to the 2.14 app from 2.11 or if they are starting a new run, but the RAM usage is running at about 150MB per WU right now...with the 2.11 app at the beginning of the month it was getting up to 500MB per WU and choking out my 2GB machines....

FreeHAL is definitely hurting our production with their issues. Yesterday it was pretty much unable to get a full load of WUs in a go, and then if it got some BOINC wouldn't request more till they were turned in. Today it's errors like

Quote:
5/13/2010 4:38:56 PM FreeHAL@home Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
5/13/2010 4:38:56 PM FreeHAL@home Reporting 20 completed tasks, requesting new tasks
5/13/2010 4:41:18 PM FreeHAL@home Scheduler request failed: HTTP internal server error

And because their web server is also down, it isn't like one can get on the forums and report the problem to them either.

First hour of Rosetta and only 3,000 credits. That is good enough for 11th place but we can do better Knights.

We are still 8th overall with 222 points.

I switched one box from MilkyWay over to Collatz earlier today (that one was already running Rosetta), but forgot to switch the other one from Milky cpu over to Rosetta! I'm all fixed now!

Is there an other tips or stuff to running Rosetta? I've only just begun to do this project.

We are a solid 8th overall right now. Being 9th in Rosetta. A chance to finish in the top 10 overall for this Challenge.

One slight problem with BAM though is it can end up getting so particular with passwords, that being forced to change or modify it to meet their requirements can make it all too easy to forget one's password. Then change computers, want to login to a projects website and....

Thing is also that some passwords it might demand one change can be secure from an IT standpoint (aka upper and lower class letters, and number or special symbol of certain length; but then it only wanted certain symbols or something like that, or demanded other tweaking). Bleh... I actually lost access to a project or 2 like that, in the past...

Set 2 hour run time, and have a cache of at least .5 days...sometimes their servers get difficult....

Oh, and the credits are crappy....
