At least she(?) isn't like that doctor guy that had access to the whole college campus computer lab. Something like 600 systems, made him a force to be reckoned with all by himself.
I used to have 20+ on WCG, but I don't work in that lab any more so they're dwindling pretty steady (down to just 2 or 3 now).
On the plus side the new X2 is crunching along happily at 3.6 GHz rock solid with low temps (it would run 12-16 hours at 3.7 and then fall on its head, I haven't bothered going through all the voltages and such to stabilize it there, low motivation especially since it seems so happy at 3.6).
By the end of the year I should be adding an i7 860 or 920 (not totally decided yet). Then my $150 HD4870 will only out perform all of my machines (CPU) combined by a factor of 5! _________________

Well, I think part of what effects WCG, (though it might have changed), is the credit that they offer up per WU, vs other projects. And yeah 600 systems would offer up a lot regardless. In the breakdown of credits I don't have access too anymore (on old email address and no way to update it) is
about 40,000 on Tainpaku (closed project, no project site to update the account with)
20,000 predictor@home (also a closed project, that even before it closed went horribly bad/sick, to the point people didn't want to crunch it, but even wanting to update it for purposes of setting stats sites OK was out due to 1 couldn't even get a token unit for that and 2. they shut down XML stat exports then supposedly started banning people with, from some accounts no other rationale then to question decisions such as that. Needless to say, there was a thread on the forums here, about predictor itself in it's final days before the final nail was spelled for that project)
2,000 credits for WCG, of which I mentioned about the account. In all honesty, that wasn't just from a handful of WUs, so the credits/hour of CPU time were rather lowish. This might be better, but then it's converted from WCG's own credit system, so...
Definitely if one is going to run with it (and they haven't increased their credit granting to be more on par with other BOINC projects), couple it with Milkyway or the like on a 2/1 or even 3/1 share ratio in favor of Milkyway. Optimized seti app at a ratio of 3/1 might have the same effect in holding one's RAC up
Oh, and speaking of a downside on the credit end of things; I had the misfortune of getting one of those really nasty uFluids WUs that was taking forever to cruch; and at 66% complete was still going up in estimated time to completion (already 14 hours in).... The credit return was looking to be just 145 credits (and it was already estimated to be taking over a day and still climbing). I abandoned it in the end, as it looks like several others had, and one person already had it error out. Due to infrequent check pointing, I'd lost another 8 hours on that thing where it restarted from 15% before when I needed to reboot. WCG just had low credits in my experience, but the app was solid without, well... Please, please, please never suggest uFluids until it gets fixed; for big time crunching _________________

Looks like we'll miss out on overtaking the Aussies by about a week or so.....such a shame.

We could always just pass them up, then make our move Would be funny as hell to pass them up, only to say pfft and move to another project after. Wonder how they'd react to that _________________

Starting to NNT machines. Should take them ~24 hours to empty queues. I'll do the final update tomorrow once stats have posted.
On to POEM! _________________
