|
|
I have 2 Einstein WUs on my home PC and 1 on my laptop that have an estimated completion time of 19 hours!!!!
I have never seen one that big, forget 3! Has anyone ever seen a WU in Einstein that big? The norm (for me anyway) was somewhere between 3 to 7 hours. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

S5R2 is about 4-5x the length the S5RI ones were. This is NORMAL. They all will be that way. No more short ones. The speed may increase in the future as they do some more optimizing. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I wasn't complaining about the size/length of them Pooh, just commenting on the fact that I haven't seen any that long before and wondered if anyone else knoew about it.
Thanks Tenebra, that link explained it. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

My puters used to do WU in about 3 hours now they are 13-15 hours. Additionally the credit is way down. Each machine was between 300 and 400 rac. These units only give about 150 credit. That is 3 times the credit and 5 times the work. ( I Know, I KNOW... " it's not about the credit, it's about the science ) But I still like the credit.
Ps: I had to take off a couple of the slower machines as they would never finish these units. I would put them on WCG but some of those units are Murder. ( take 2-3 days and then error out ) _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

SETI is still the best for older machines. The optimized app makes them crunch way beyond their normal means. I posted some screen shots where my Pentium 4 1.3 GHz machine was the fastest to return a work unit out of a P4 1.4, PowerMac, and AMD 64 3500+.

That's going to be my graveyard from now on for older machines. _________________

Well it seems that at least two of my machines are processing in the 30 hour range. My amd barton 2500 is doing about 15 hours and the amd 2600 is doing them in 30 hours with an amd 64 2800+ doing 27.75 Odd, they all seem to be the same type ( Sr52c ) I don't get it. Mabey they are doing them twice. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Who knows?
I did notice that they take ~5x the time and generate ~4.5x the credit. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

I had one of the 400+ credit ones, on my P4 took over 2 days to crunch (49-50 hours).
There is a bugfix version going to be released soon (some AMD processors are having issues, along with a few other glitches), but no optimization, yet.
When optimization comes, they are expecting speedup to be more than 2 fold, per Aslof. Unsure the length of time before that happens. _________________ Watch the movie about me The 4-1-4s: The Original Teenage Hackers (It is only about 12 minutes long.)

I just read the Thread at Einstein regarding these new units.
Man! am I glad that I only post here. It sounds like the Jerry Springer show there. Its a good thing that that is a virtual room or I am sure there would be Blood on the floor. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

Just when I thought they wouldn't get any bigger, the laptop has 2 WUs that have a to completion time of 31 hours!
Anyone else get anything that big?
While that should get me 1000 credits, it will probably only give me 350 to 400. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!

a new machine has downloaded 3 units with 56 hour projected times. the first has now been running for 26 .5 hours and is at 66%. The other user has claimed 519 credits for this unit. 2 days to crunch and only 519 credits on a AMD 3800+?? I think it shall be time for me to find a new project when I get back later this week. _________________ a.k.a. Licentious of Borg.........Resistance Really is Futile.......

It definately does seem like they are giving out less credit per hour crunching time for the big WUs then they did for the smaller WUs. _________________ Fetch me the Holy Hand Grenade!
