Hello Team The Knights Who Say Ni!,
Hello Friends from Team The Knights Who Say Ni!.
Team SETI.Germany continues it's new invented challenge and invites all BOINC-Teams to participate in the 4.rd BOINC PENTATHLON, following the ideals of the ancient Pentathlon.
It will start May the 5th 2013 (00:00 UTC) and will end May the 18th 2013 (23:59 UTC).
Like in the ancient Greece, the Pentathlon will be held in 5 disciplines. That means within 14 days the participants will have to crunch 5 different projects, all of them for a period of 5 days. That said, you can easily see that some projects will have to be crunched at the same time.
Each team that would like to participate has to sigh up : http://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_pentathlon/anmeldung.php?&lang=en until April the 27. th 2013. Like in the last year the favourites in the different disciplines can be chosen by every team on their own. The project that gaines the most voices will be crunched.
A list of the projects that can be chosen from can be found here : http://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_pentathlon/25_en_Disciplines.html , but you can also suggest other projects. (But before suggesting other projects, please check if the project and/or their servers would be able to withstand the combined BOINC forces. We do not want to bring any project server down.)
More information can be found here : http://www.seti-germany.de/boinc_pentathlon/22_en_Welcome.html
NEW RULES 2013:
1. All disciplines are now 5 days announced before the start (no more than 1 week)
2. A of the five disciplines is a marathon discipline. It is calculated over the entire pentathlon (or until no longer work units available). The scoring is the same with the other disciplines.
In the last year it was very exciting until the end.

Good Morning and Hello Blurf,
thank you very much for your replay to me.
Itīs sad your Team will not participate by this Event Blurf, but it`s okay.
Maybe I can see your Team in the Future by us. Have a nice Day.

Ummm, is Blurf speaking for the team? We could "schedule" a Vacation PotM in May to allow for these shenanigans. As I recall the Pentathlon is kinda fun and involves some skills that KWSN should be good at - shutting down 1 project and starting another per a tight schedule, etc..... |

We would need someone to act as coach to direct which events to crunch, when to switch, etc. I watched SUSA do it last year, but it's beyond my skill level. Plus, we only have 8-10 members on the forums lately who participate in challenges at all. _________________

The Pentathlon is beyond YOUR skill levels? We better not do it then. As I recall KWSN tried it once and it was a little frustrating, but also fun. I think John Galt led us through that one. Well maybe we should just put it on the PotM ballot next month and see what happens? |

I rec'd a PM from Team Musketeers asking if any [KWSN] would be willing to hLep Seti-USA for the five days doing Asteroids.
We had the Musketeers help us earlier, so I think I personally can spare a few days to help them (Musketeers) back -
In their way of doing things, it is by helping OTHERS, in this case Seti-USA - I think I can spare a Shrubber for a few
days and say "Thanks" to Dr. Dan, et al, for them helping US!

SUSA has asked for help with the Pentathlon. The request also comes through the Musketeers. This will help say back help given us and perhaps poke P3DN! in a soft spot. Remember, they were extremely rude and no fun at all during the Docking raid at Team Phoenix Rising. Yes, ruder than the French! and less fun than the Taliban!!

I will help out a little bit on the Astroids, if I can get all my ducks in a row, the goats sitting on the fence and a proper soaking of the shrubberies with a hard rain. |

I've asked over at SUSA if someone could post bunkering instructions here as I'll be away from the computers for a few hours.

I had read the posts on the Asteroids forum earlier today...
NOT good timing for them to be having those kind of problems, I feel sorry for the Project.
Do you think this will stop the whole Pentathalon thang??

As an update... Asteroids seems to be working towards a fix.
They have given me credits for a majority of the invalid files., even though they are still designated as "Unable to validate". |

New plan, they'd rather not post that to an open forum. They're going to PM instructions to me and I'll forward them to those who want them. PM me if you need tips on bunkering Asteroids or Yoyo.

I'm in for Einstein. And I may jump in for Yoyo. No time to fool around with bunkering on my end, but I'll if I can. _________________

The Yoyo segment has begun. If anyone is helping here, the recommended sub-projects are Muon for Windows and ECM for Linux shrubbers. Thanks.
