I said Bye bye Majestic 12,

You should have said "Bye bye Comcast" instead... Rolling Eyes

Not really any option for me...
Comcast is the only broadband in this area
Dsl here is terrible and expensive... My son has it and it took 2 hours to Dl the latest Nvidia driver last week and it took <5 min for me...
Dial up?... I haven't had a "land line" in close to 20 years....
Satellite... Very high Latency and cost.....

Comcast has a real Monopoly here, Why do you think they can afford to buy General Electric?????

What projects are you shrubbing? I am one of the 2 POEM HOs here in the Fortress. POEM is disease research. You may find it interesting

I am giving 100% of my shrubbing time to F@H.
I have not signed-up for any other projects (mostly because I'm too %$&# lazy to research other projects).
Can you provide a URL for the main POEM project sponsor? I'm somewhat curious about other research projects.

There are a few protein folding type projects in BOINC-land.

POEM@Home: http://boinc.fzk.de/poem/
Rosetta@Home: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/
Docking@Home: http://docking.cis.udel.edu/
World Community Grid: https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.jsp - there are a few different projects in there

There's a couple starters for you, probably more that I missed. Lots of bio-medical research going on.

Thanks for the info Smile. I'll peruse these sites sometime in the next few weeks.

I'm having some 'stability' issues with my F@H efforts.
I'm getting too many 'cannot connect' events when the F@H app tries to deliver results (implies that it queues these results for later delivery).

Seems that Stanford might have some network capacity/connectivity issues, as well as system performance issues. It appears that some of their regularly scheduled jobs may grind things nearly to a halt during certain periods of the day. There is a running 'gripe' on the EOC forum about this (they call it the "noon stats issue"), and I have been trying to help by paying close attention/analysis to the logfiles, and reporting any trends/patterns that I can see. I actually do this sort of thing for a living (comm log analysis, etc), so hopefully EOC guys find my emails helpful.
I try work thru EOC (rather than bitch directly to Vijay, et al)...EOC may get more 'ear-time' with Stanford than I would as an individual.
