Try this on for size. As for the speed, are you comparing to other Hyperthreading machiens? Hyperthreading actually slows processing down by quite a bit. It is doing 2 of them at a time though so you still get slightly more work done... but barely. This is why hyperthreading really sucks for the most part. One of my computers is almost exactly the same and it is taking 5 or even 6 hours for a full run. See here. And LHC's work units are for the most part the same length... its just that in some of the simulations the particles become unstable and the client exits right away because it knows it won't get any more good data out of that work unit. This can happen in under 10 seconds or when it is almost done with the work unit. |

Thanks MacG and LanDroid, I'll give it a bit longer and see if I got some shorter units. If the're all this size I won't be able to make the deadline and will return the units before they expire. _________________

Of all the times to be away from my systems. Fortunately they picked up a few. Enough to keep me moving up the charts.
As far as the HTing. 5-6 hours is what I see from my P4 running two of them. Seems that LHC does not benefit near as much as other applications. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

Meh, just when we started giving Pheonix Rising a run for their money on the 14th position in LHC team stats. They were about 20k credits ahead of us, and it's now shrunk to only 11k, with BOINC stats rating us for an over-take...
Well, I still have several days of WUs left, unless all the rest turn out short... Not sure how much closer we'll inch up to that pesky Phoenix Rising this time around |

I'm running kind of slow this time around... It is getting pretty hot here but my room mate hasn't turned on the AC yet so I have to suspend BOINC on my home boxes during the day or they get kind of hot under the CPU. The AC will probably come on within the next week and then I will be back to full power!

And now LHC is out of work, for who knows how long.

Have just signed up to LHC are you saying they are not doing anything at the moment. If not will try something else if there are any suggestions as I have tried seti etc. and most say try again later Its enough to put anyone off especially as computers hate me anyway, _________________ Geryon

go to stats.kwsn.net it lists many projects that you can work on. Plus some of the threads in this part of the forum list other projects.

Meh, if you want to work a project that we're not currently setup for, people will accomodate, just so you create the team following the precise format. AKA, the name, and the case needs to be identical, and in this do not follow the case used on the WCG team, but one of the others. This way we get credits...
But yeah, LHC is out of work, and actually BOINC is giving me a project down error, with the website reporting too many connections to the dBase, try again latter. In the next bundle of WUs, you should be able to get some. BTW, it's natural for LHC to get work in bursts, which is why we tend to horde the WUs Setting resource share on LHC higher then on other projects, combined with the periods without work also helps one get LHC work once it becomes available |

Well, you can create the account and add KWSN as your team... However, make sure it is this team link you join
http://lhcathome.cern.ch/team_display.php?teamid=10
and not some other with a different capitalization of our team name or something. Don't remember if there were other teams mascarading as ours on LHC, or just on other projects. That link will assure we get the credit...
Well anyhow, I have about 1 day of work left in my queue, maybe less for LHC, as a high percentage of my WUs had short completion times vis-a-vis the other batches of WUs I got in the past... |

Sometimes there are other supposedly Knights Who Say Ni! teams on a few other projects, you need to use the right capitialization and puncuation.

I'm currently not accepting new fork for Einstein or SETI. Most of my time is to Rosetta for a little while. All work I had for Einstein is complete and reported, I still have about 25 more units for SETI to complete. Let's pass somebody in Rosetta. Come on people. Lend some more CPU time! _________________

I've got enough work to get us past Phoenix Rising. Of course they keep ending in five minutes so it's gonna take a few of them
Of my first 20 completed results only two have run for any good amount of credits. Looks like this batch is more like the last one, really testing the limits of hitting the accelerator wall. _________________ A Shrubbery for Prez. Let's put more bushes in the whitehouse.

I know; some I'm grabbing some more... Sigh, and we already taunted FADbeens...
Well, I'm going to let some projects clean up, and then go to LHC exclusively for awhile (and before they run outa work). Then don't worry Sir Fart, I'll be back to help a little bit more in taking down em beenie babies Course, it's just 1 comp here, but each bit helps |

I can barely stand the excitement! I will be watching this page closely over the next day or two! An interesting look at daily numbers can be seen here as well. It looks like we top out at over 6,000 shrubbs per day while Phoenix Rising can barely manage 2,500. This would suggest it may take another 2-3 days to overtake them but they WILL fall!
