Greeting Fellow Knights,

As your newly appointed keeper of the archives I will be ... um ...

OK. So I don't know what I'm doing yet, but I've only been on the job about 20 minutes, not even long enough to screw things up yet. Wink

Something to think about; What do we want to call thia archive? "The Vault" isn't bad, or we could go with another choice. Some possibilities:

The Library
Brother Maynards' Library
The Ancient Tomes
The Dungeon

Etc. etc. Suggestions welcome.

Soon I will be taking requests for threads to be archived, but not just yet, because I want to think about some basic rules for what should be archived. Please hold off on requests until further announcements.

I LIKE:

Brother Maynard's Library

-----------or------------

Pie Iesu domine, dona eis requiem (a bit confusing to those who've never seen it tho... and since there shouldn't be any of those around these parts.. i think we should go ahead and do it... and point those who don't understand to the movie...)

Well I have the most library experience amongest all of you. Since I have esstentially memorized all the dewey decimal and library of congress system.

So Catacombs is fine.

Also could we save all the current Ender Memorial Word Games left in that part of the forum until I get a chance to write them down.

I suggest the "The Ancient Scrolls" or just "The Scrolls".

Then if someone asks Sir Hamster "Do you have 'The Scrolls'?", he can reply "No, I always walk this way"

I've made my first official entries into the archives: A couple of threads from the New Member forum. So far the unofficial criteria for selection are

1) No longer on the first page of topics in the forum
2) More than one page of replies, indicating that there was moderate interest at some point. (This isn't a very good rule, but it's a place to start).
3) Vanity. (I thought I had some funny posts in these threads) Confused

Therefore, I will now begin taking nominations for threads to be placed in our hallowed archived under these general guidelines:

1) It's no longer an active topic
2) There should be some indication that more than one person showed any interest in the topic, and
3) Someone likes the thread enough that they bother themselves to PM me about it.

As stated above, please PM your request to me with the word Archive/Vault/Library/(etc.) in the subject. Please include a link to the topic so I don't have to go hunting for it. I will probably only go through these once a week or so, don't expect to see it moved right away.

How long a topic will persist in the archive has not yet been determined. I'll probably decide on a case-by-case basis.

Since Sir NSP asked, here is a revised list of possible forum names:

Brother Maynard's Pizzeria and Library of Ancient Wisdom
Brother Maynard's Salon of Knowledge and Tonsorial Artistry
The Vault of Ancient Learning (Bro. Maynard Proprietor)
The Vault of Ancient Learning and Tonsorial Magnificence
Catacombs of Eternal Mystery and Tattoo Parlour
Vault and Archival Catacombs of Universal Unending Memory (The VACUUM) Smile

It this worth creating a poll, or should I just pick one?

S@H: KWSN S@H
BOINC: BOINC!!!
HP: Humanitarian Projects
CJ: Camel Jumping (also Court Jester)

OK then, Brother Maynard's Pizzeria and Library of Ancient Wisdom is officially open for business (Jonnyv, are you listening?). I'll take PM's or messages here for requests. Smile

Please note that I will be mostly away from internet access between Decenber 20th and January 5th. So I may not be able to respond to your request during that time.

I feel like the Maytag repairman running this place, but I'll put out the call again anyway. If you have a thread you happen to like and don't want it see it deleted, PM me and I can move it here. Better yet, post your requests here (with links please) and maybe get more people nterested. Wink
