|
|
Quote: | Amicable Numbers is an independent research project that uses Internet-connected computers to find new amicable pairs. Amicable numbers are two different numbers so related that the sum of the proper divisors of each is equal to the other number. The smallest pair of amicable numbers is (220, 284). They are amicable because the proper divisors of 220 are 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 11, 20, 22, 44, 55 and 110, of which the sum is 284; and the proper divisors of 284 are 1, 2, 4, 71 and 142, of which the sum is 220.
UPDATE 2017-03-26: ~250,000 amicable pairs will be found in the next few days. Don't miss the opportunity!
UPDATE 2017-03-28: It appears that current work units are 2 times slower on average, so I've set credit per WU to 3236.07 temporarily (2 times more than usual). This is until the project reaches 50%, when a whole new type of WU will start, so I'll revise credit per WU once again then.

Amicable Numbers made a strong showing in the recent Alpha testing and is now a first time PotM.
This project uses all CPU threads at once. You can reduce the total number used in project settings.
GPU WUs are also available. Requirements: any AMD (HD 5xxx or newer) or NVIDIA (4xx or newer) GPU with OpenCL support and at least 1 GB of video memory. See notes on tweaking kernel size at link below. Have any Knights done this?

There's an easier way on this project - you can set "Max # CPUs" right in your account settings. _________________
