I have been a member for several years and enjoy running my stats. But I am using 100% of my CPU's, and am afraid I'm going to blow up my computer. I have made attempts to make adjustments but failed. So, I am taking a break. #ni-1

Maybe just do BOINC and the Non-CPU intensive Project!
WUProp hardly takes ANYthing!
Even more in the background than other stuff already IN the background!

In BOINC Manager....

Tools>Computing Preferences

Processor Usage Tab

Bottom of the dialog box, set usage to 50% and 50%

Computers don't blow up from use. Maintain the cooling system and there should be no problem caused by running at 100%. You can set CPU usage lower or configure boinc to use fewer cores if you wish to reduce electricity costs.

Ni!

Welcome Back!

If it is any consolation... I have an old Rig I have been running nonstop 24/7/365 since I bought it in early 2007. At 100%. A Q6600 Quad core.

IT is still running strong, as a matter of fact it is in the top BOINC computers of all time. I think 18 with 337 Billion points.

Never fear, running a cpu for 100% forever is fine.

SBSP

P.S. you might cause some damage to your relationship if you run 10 computers with 1080 GPUs 24/7 in your house in Texas during the summer, but I managed to live, so far. The night is young.

Have you tried TThrottle?

two 'T's'

Just set the CPU & GPU temps you want and it runs the computer to keep the temps as set, simple's
