Primegrid seems to be off the list for a while. Unsure if we had PSA (Non-BOINC) on the list, or not, but that could be a thought.

Projects sometimes drop off and are forgotten for unknown reasons Embarassed so I'll add PrimeGrid. Will have to delete one, probably Edges.
What is PSA, are you talking about the following? What's the difference between PSA, Primaboinca, and PrimeGrid?

Edges is a good choice to drop as it hasn't had work for some time and the last time it did it was sporadic.

Maybe combine OGR-28 and RC5-72 or add R5 separately?

If we do malaria control someone may want to chat up the project admin, I have a feeling we could drain them dry.

Sztaki has no work available but does show some in progress. Might be good to pull it off for now.

Climate prediction currently only has work for linux computers (might change)

LHC sixtrack has 1 shrub available. We'd have to wrestle for it.

Shouldn't there be a tacos@home project by now??

As I understand it PSA runs prime and factor searches on things that are not currently being run on Primegrid. PSA also has manual cobblestones so it can take a bit before it shows up in your stats and there is typically a trickle effect of sorts to make it easier on those awarding credit I'm guessing.

Not sure how PSA and PG relate to primaboinca though. Pooh can add to anything I've left out

PSA is how Primegrid more or less started. Usually smaller primes (may not make it to the top 5000). Most of them have too little work left to move to PG itself (which is near it's limit on how many projects it can handle). The credits are somewhat manually trickled to PG, I believe they just have a script that does it on a regular basis (weekly it looks like). You do get PSA badge on PG when you get shrub enough. There is a second part to even less people do on the PSA which is even more manual than the Prime search is Manual Sieving (I have not done these, myself).

I have not done Primabonic and it looks like they are not searching for primes, but trying to build a better algorithm to test for primes. Looks like the keep a small queue going and if we would use them we may need to warn them so they can add in to their cache of WU ready to send.

Van Der Waerden Numbers project http://www.vdwnumbers.org/vdwnumbers/index.php might not be a good idea ...

There is no KWSN team! Quick someone! There seems to be work but ... the summer is coming and ... you know how KWSN are with projects ... so ... let's do it!

well done multijumper #ni-1
If you are using the latest Boinc version you may have an issue to deal with if you're going to run Test4theory.

It will require hotfixes to the manager to avoid the 4g bug.
There appears to be a bug in the latest BOINC that allows files larger than 4G to be left behind in the slots, then effectively shutting down all other projects once the slots are full.

Thanks for your research Yankton. We'll delete the following projects for now.
Edges
Malaria Control
Sztaki
Climate Prediction
LHC/Sixtrack

Now it gets kinda complicated. How do we add all these non-Boinc numbers projects, combine them into one vote as in:
OGR-28 / RC5-72 / R5 / PSA ? If that wins, we'll figure out how to attack it.

And the complications continue, what are we supposed to do with MultiJumper's suggestions. One run by a middle school student has a lot of WUs. Then there's a CERN project that needs fixes applied so it doesn't screw up your computer. Gene@Home / TN-Grid looks solid, with scientific results, etc.

Well, we gotta do something - how does the following list look?

Second draft ballot:

Asteroids
Cosmology
Distributed Data Mining
Einstein
FiND@Home V
Gene@Home V
Number Field Sieve
OGR-28 / RC5-72 / R5 / PSA (Non-Boinc) V
Poem
Primaboinca
Rosetta
SETI
SkyNet / POGS
World Community Grid
Vacation / No CPU POTM

Any projects to add from the following lists?

Potential / Newbie Projects:
VolPEX pre-alpha testing only
Van Der Waerden Numbers Virus? Shocked
CERN CMS-Dev Needs invite & fixes

Zombie Project Watch List:
Correlizer - Dead. May become undead?
Quantum Monte Carlo - Alpha / re-launching / no message boards
ABC - Dead.
Mind Modeling - lack of work
OProject - Zombie. Undead?
RNA World - checkpointing requires Virtual Machine, no work for short WU's
Folding@Home (Non-Boinc) - Lack of interest
SAT - Lack of interest
Muon 1 (Non-boinc) V - lack of interest
Universe - Lack o' WUs
Edges - lack of work
Malaria Control - lack of work
Sztaki - lack of work
Climate Prediction - Linux only
LHC/Sixtrack - lack of work
Convector - lack of work
Denis - lack of work
Gerasim - lack of work
iGEM@Home - lack of work

That hot-fix is needed for ANY project that sends or builds files larger than 4G in a slots directory and the user has the latest (and greatest??) BOINC version and is using Windoz O$.
It's a BOINC/Windoz issue, not a project issue.

*on a side note: 137 KWSN members shrubbed the SETI last year in August for the 2014 Wow! Challenge... personally, I would rather see SETI put on next month's ballot to promote participation in the 2015 Wow! Challenge in August 15-31.
Not sure of the ethics involved in limiting a totally viable choice for July, so maybe that's a non-issue.

How is this CERN CMS-dev project shrubbing? Is it dev/alpha phase, do you recommend it? Remember KWSN crunched 4 CERN projects recently and only Sixtrack got much attention. I'm leery of adding CMS-dev mainly for that reason.

As to SETI Wow, that project is indeed on July's ballot. But I say we don't even vote in August - we just set it aside for Seti, agree? Maybe we should take SETI off the ballot in July for that reason? (This could be what JumpinJohnny is advocating, but I wasn't totally clear.) By the way only 7 Knights have registered for the SETI Wow Event so far...

Sorry, I mistyped. By R5 I meant RC5-72. It's part of distributed.net. So it is easy to do it simultaneously with OGR-28. RC5-72 can be on the gpu project list as well.

Primegrid's PSA is its own thing. If we combine it I would suggest combining it with primegrid. It would be complicated to combine it with anything though.

I am down for Seti WOW for August also.

Normally it is not easy to run PSA and primegrid at the same time, but if you can do it more coconut power to you. I have registered for WOW and will be ready for it come august again.

Also TN Grid needs an invite code........

"Yes, strictly speaking, this is true. However we have very good reasons, by now, to limit the number of participating people. Science first, we are working to set up a good 'feeding' system, something like a 'virtual lab', there is a lot of pre- and post-processing to be done (boinc sits in the middle) in our project and our staff is limited. Another problem is our server, which, by now, is just a virtual machine with limited resources, it will take some time before we can move it to a reliable and powerful one (as usual, money and bureaucracy).

BTW, If someone want an invitation code, just find me on the boinc project I participate and send me a PM.

valterc (TN-Grid admin)"
