I gather the final numbers in the Perseid Shower Challenge will be adjusted slightly over the next day or so, but for now KWSN ended up in 15th place with 1,094,013.05 total points. Detailed stats?

D'oh!

Shutting down PG I just noticed one of my shrubbers was set to the wrong location and shrubbed ESP/PSP/SoB Sieve instead of TRP for the entire challenge. Lost 6 cores.

I have noticed that I sit top of the team on most of the challenges. It's not because I have the most cores or the fast computers, it just seems that there is a lack of power users willing to run the challenges. We used to constantly be in the top 12 or less, now we are often in the top 15-20.

Looking at the OVERALL statistics from 2014, we have 11 users with challenge points. I am not #1 here because I could not do the Stallion edition of GFN, but in all others I have been first. So 6 challenges and no one has challenged me very well.

I'd love to get knocked down a notch or two and get our team moved up in the standings (we sit 14th with the first 6 challenges). The last challenge isn't added because it's not cleaned up yet.

So, I challenge the team to push me aside for the next 4 challenges.

Next challenge started 4-OCT and is the World Animal Day Challenge for 5 days running TPR LLR (unlike the TPR Sieve we just did).

Then we have one challenge in November (19-24) and two challenges in December (5-6 and 18-21), these last two start at odd times. Most start UTC 18:00, the December ones run 00:00 and 23:03 respectively.

With my new file server shrubbing this last challenge you just barely beat me. If I replace the board/cpu in my old one (which I will do as soon as I've figured out the virtualization under unraid for the new one) I'll pass you up. It won't be by oddles though. I have noticed the same thing. The power shrubbers aren't paying attention, or it's too much trouble to change settings on ALL those machines!

Upcoming in less than 2 days:

World Animal Day Challenge Oct 4 18:00 to Oct 9 18:00 (UTC)
This will be TRP-LLR (The Riesel Problem). Remember LLR tasks are heavy on CPU processing and is best with the HT turned off, or using half to 3/4 of your threads. I use half on Gen2 i7 or before. I use 3/4 on Gen3 and Gen4.

The Riesel Problem LLR (TRP)
k·2n-1 for 53 specific values of k
Recent average CPU time: 24:14:17
This project has a 10% long job credit bonus and a 10% conjecture credit bonus. (Bonuses not figured into challenge credit.)

This 5 day challenge will be hot and heavy. Can we get back to near 10 for the team ranking?

Good luck to those of you who plan to participate.

It snuck up on me, started ~3hrs. late. I'm short a shrubber, too. A PhenomIIx6 died, haven't had a chance to poke at the innards yet.

Don't worry about it, there's always a bunch of users with more shrubbery.

Well, unless you're Ste\/e. Laughing

Just over 5 days to the next challenge.

Leonids Challenge
Nov 19 18:00 to Nov 24 18:00 (UTC)
A 5 day Challenge is being offered on PrimeGrid's 321 Prime Search (LLR) application.
Recent average CPU time: 27:35:49

So your slow machines might be able to complete 2 per core, your AVX machines should do this in approximately half this time so 4-5 can be completed in the 5 day challenge.

Today at 23:03 UTC, PPS Sieve will be the challenge project that ends 2014's PG challenges. This project is for CPU and GPU! No double precision needed. NVidia does have an advantage over ATI for these.

Come one, come all. Let's kick this 3 day challenge in it's backend!
Code:
Proth Prime Search Sieve (PPS-Sieve)

Winter Solstice Challenge project

    Linux: 32bit, 64bit (+CUDA23, AMD OpenCL1)
    Mac: 32bit, 64bit (+CUDA32, AMD OpenCL1,2,3 - 64 bit only)

1 Requires AMD Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) drivers. If APP driver not available for your card, then the ATI Stream SDK is needed.
2 Minimum required BOINC client: 7.0.0.
3 Minimum required OS: Mac OS 10.7 (Darwin 11.0.0).
4 Nvidia Windows drivers 295.xx and 296.xx should not be used.
Deadline: 3 days

Recent average CPU time: 25:34:28
Recent average GPU time: 0:31:36

OK I'm givin it quite a lil bit of a shrub more or less? Started off with the wrong sieve doh!
Interesting: half of the GPU WUs estimate 4 hours to completion, the other half estimate 24 minutes. Confused

With about 3.5 hours to go, KWSN is in 14th place with 17,404,473 points.
Unfortunately I'm done, my WUs estimate 8 hours 'til completion, except for the GPU - I'll keep that shrubbing...

Anyone else?
