Always trickling or out of work, crazy run time estimates, Java, triggers something to make my AV software take up 40-70% of the CPU resources. Twisted Evil

I am glad I have gotten rid of Java from my computers and there is no way I am going to install it again.

And I hope the Flash will follow soon #evil

I think the French were trying to quietly sneak past us, but then they saw we went crazy again, so they backed off. They are currently only about 4.5M below us, so if they really wanted to try, they could easily take over spot 1.

SETI@USA is still running a close second in RAC, but they are neatly 25M behind us it will take them a while to catch up.

BOINC Synergy is a slight threat as they are running 3rd in current RAC and is just 10M behind us. Once we back down, they may be rolling a good game.

I have not been hitting this hard, yet. Astropulse had come on board and I am so close to 10K in WUProp on it, I went hard and heavy at it. I will get that today and shut down SETI and work DDM. 32 cores should really make a dent. One of those boxes is having some issues (think a bad SATA controller on the MB and will need to warranty replace it), but I am running it as much as possible. Symptoms are it just shuts down every about 2 days and when it reboots the diagnostics cannot find the SATA controller. So I suspect it somehow goes offline and so the machine panics and reboots.

Since my PowerEdge seems so well-suited to DDM, I have decided to LEAVE it on it -
When I can afford another Server, maybe it will find something else - This is my DDM Shrubber...

Just checked - It'll do somewhere over 3,000 a day - Not much, really, but it'll just keep on crunchin'...

I'm getting quite a few computation errors lately. Confused

Why can't they use the standard Boinc site format? How do I get to the page with my tasks? Confused

Just curious, in what way is it better suited to DDM? Other than the obvious PG LLR where speed is important to beat your wingman to be finder of a prime.

I like just having it run and crunch and not have to fool with it - I plugged in DDM and it seems
to do them fast and very seldom any problems - I'll just LEAVE it on DDM

Nothing scientifically proven mind you...

Although as a team we did very well at DDM this month, the headaches from a very unstable project have been many. I ran a backup project just to keep my cores going, but I am disappointed in the lack of current admin the system has had, and the very sporadic outages.

I have written the project admin several times this month with updates as to some of the issues, but alas I have no reply at all. Usually I would get some reply. I am wondering if he is just running the system into the ground and taking the project with it? I hope not, but the lack of response to inquiries, suggestions, etc has made me weary of the longevity of this project.

Now, if we lost this one as a team we have no other project where we are considered the top. We also do not necessarily have the manpower to beat down any other projects. A couple of new ones have surfaced and we might be able to hold our own on one of those, but with the big guns out there, it probably would not be as long as we've held DDM.

I am unsure if DDM is just lack of time, or also lack of funds? They do have a donate area and a second way of support where if you use their link and purchase items from Amazon they get a percentage. I've use this option many times to help put a few $ toward their costs.

Oh well, I've been an advocate to keep us at #1 on this project, and if I can find some light somewhere in this tunnel, I'd still be willing to help stay there.

I only recall one work outage this month, probably just forgot. Rolling Eyes

My main problem seems to be the conflict between the Java WU's and my security suite. No clue what's going on there, but things grind to a crawl.

It's most likely these problems are the major reason KWSN are top, so fixing all the problems might not be such a good thing for the team TBH.

Usually DDM is stable, but there is only one admin who takes care of the servers and projects of DDM. As he has public holidays in august/september this year there is an explanation why the outages were noticed late there .....

.... and usually he answers at the forums there but focused on errors in processing wu's.

Cheers

Unable to upload or download again.

So will now complete the few remaining dDM, tasks then clear Collatz and a few others for next months POTM, if we have any.

I expect my next barely noticeable trickle to commence around 4/5/6/7/8/9/10/11..................th Laughing
