I assume you are correct that running a (concurrent) Virtual Machine client or using dual-booted clients (on separate partitions), would indeed hog processing power and increase time for WU's on your regular clients.
Unless you bunker by firewall IP exclusion rule, you would still have to "babysit" your clients to suspend each WU. My own opinion is that Bunkering by firewall rule works best for people who have a shrubber farm and suspension bunkering is best for the one machine user who has time to "babysit" the WU's.
I also suspect it may be a good idea to build up the Validation Pending list before the start. I have time to use the suspension method so I suspend a few every day at about 85%.
First you have to set your BOINC computing preferences to accept maximum WU's by setting Network usage to "Maintain enough tasks to keep busy for at least 2 days". Every time you get more work you have to Resume all WU's and re-suspend them once you get more.
I'm trying to build up as many Astropulse WU's as I can and have them suspended at just over 90%.
Perhaps someone more experienced can shed more light on the VM question.

Good News: 52 dedicated KWSN have registered.
Bad news: I sent out hundreds of PM's with an incorrect link.
Correct link: http://www.seti-germany.de/Wow/anmeldung.php?lang=en
edit: Turns out the "bad" link is only "bad" if you were trying to use a Mac to register.
Now 69 registered.

17 more days. Just enough to turn my WCG-Sig Ruby Globe to Emerald one and then to direct the full power to WOW _________________

2014 Wow!-event Challenge still has two weeks to go before the start and KWSN has already registered more Knights in search of seti shrubbery than we ended the challenge with last year!
81 KWSN and counting. (73 plus the eight 4's we forgot to count)
Plenty of time to get prepared. Sharpen your herring, maybe "bunker" up a few WU's and recalculate that swallow's trajectory.
There are a some key Knights not yet registered that were really big help for us last year.
I know 2 weeks of seti shrubbing doesn't pay top credits but think of the glory of battle and the bragging/taunting rights we will have with your help.

Have Seti Germany been informed of our "Special Needs" status and their civic responsibility to "weight" our output, x5 sounds fair, to take account of the higher than average numbers of Loonies(special needs) members this team contains?
And please can we make sure no one recommends cleaning our hard drives to improve performance again. Brillo pads, caustic soda and jet washes simply do not work. I tried them all! _________________

And in true Knightly fashion should we not be taunting any team in Seti WoW we haven't a hope of beating?

Registered. Can only get 100 WU's/host, though. Using Boinctasks to suspend them at 95% completion. _________________

If I read you right... they are limiting by host not by client, so even if you dual boot or VM, you still only get 100 ??
... speaking of 100>>>Looks like we will start the Challenge with over 100 Knights !!! That's fantastic. |

I am running CPU and GPU Seti and have 200 in the queue 50/50 %
Wish I had more astropulse though but do they count in the Seti challenge? _________________

That's sorta good news... at least it gives you a chance to bunker a few extra. I chose not to run the GPU pre-contest this year because of the extremely low credits.

Yes, all the Seti@Home applications count. The Astropulse are great to bunker up on because of the higher credit per WU. They are just hard to come by except sporadically.

Thanks JumpinJohnny
As SETI is PoTM and to ensure I do not run dry before Seti WOW commences I've had to return some completed units. Now I have a measly, ,but welcome, three Astropulse units to complete before the start as well.
My Seti contribution is pretty tiny TBH around 5% of my total. It's the credit allocation compared to other projects certainly not the hours. Those old units, on the those old machines, sure did take a while. _________________

A dual boot shows up as a different host. I would think VM's are treated the same, but haven't used them yet. _________________

Leo Hoodak sent me this link on bunkering I thought would be good to post here.
http://www.dunadd.co.uk/seti/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=2092
pretty thorough description of the various types of methods used to bunker.
Thanks Leo.
We now have 113 signed up and ready to start the 2014 Wow! Challenge.
The final reset has been done on the website for stats and the countdown is, well, counting down.
If you're not yet registered, there is still plenty of time ... (Somewhere between 3 and 5 days... I forget the number.)
