Nice bunch of guys over at Phoenix Rising. We tried to help them at Docking a while back but P3D squashed us. _________________

Some days ago, we trampled bwm to re-take #123.
Not much of a victory - they had been idle for some months/years.
The Brony@Home boys stampeded their My Little Pony herd and passed us a day or two before that.
Are we all accounted for? Any injuries or casualties?
Anyone for a pint or two...or ten?????

And now for something completely different...
...well, not really.
BUT...We have moved up one more notch (to #122) after defeating StorageForum_net sometime in the last 24 hours!

Oh, crud.
In our arduous ascent back up to the top 100 teams, the F@H mountain-side has become steeper.
For the foreseeable future, any gains we can achieve will be months between position movements.
However, the good news is that lower-ranked teams (but with higher output) are generally a threat in terms of years - not months.

It's been a whole month...and we're STILL in position #122.
Even with some of those juicy 8057 WUs (huge points), we're still rising.
But it seems our rise is at the speed of a glacier!
Maybe if we get F@H as GPU PotM for Dec 2012, we can ascend a little more???

Two steps back, and one step forward.
HHHRRMMFF!!!!!
Seems as though StorageForum_net didn't like being surpassed by the likes of the KWSN.
They slipped ahead us sometime this last week.
And then there is Folding@BRASIL - they also left us in the dust.
So, back to #124.
But then we stumbled our way past ADSLgr - Greek aDSL Users.
Now at #123 (again).
And looking at the stats , the climb into the top 100 has become VERY steep indeed.
But - if it is any consolation - we can overtake Pande Lab in just a mere 14.9 years!!

WOW.
Now two steps forward!
We have surpassed Team DF.LTH.SE *AND* StorageForum_net (again!).
And we are now tenuously holding position #121!!!!

If GPU WUs are going to be 14,000 points a pop then it'll realy shake things up.

Yes, but unfortunately, everyone with a reasonable GPU will be getting these!
And then once they settle on a QRB algorithm for GPU, things will get even more shaken-up!
As I have posted before [here and elsewhere], I am fundamentally opposed to QRB for GPUs.
In my not-so-humble opinion: The speed of the GPU *IS* the QRB.
I don't think a points-handicapping scheme (for older GPUs) would be fair, but what they're proposing is exactly the opposite:
The newer/faster hardware will get the better QRB factor.
This is nothing more than a de facto penalty for older [yet very capable] GPUs.

GPUs have always had a better points/WU/time then CPU WUs. A lot of people were right miffed when the first GPU client came out (same thing with the PS3 client). Huge difference from CPU work.
Stanford have always been fervent about fast returns. I remember the big arguement about HT and running 2 WUs on a P4 with HT (donors who did so should be burned at the stake or something like that). Only the eOn project has a similar mindset/need.

Seems as though the 14093 point WUs have all been crunched.
Maybe they'll toss some more into the hopper soon.
Meanwhile, we're back to lower-point WUs - although they don't take as long.

Yeah, that seems to be the general push.
I did post a [mild] warning on the Stanford forum about disenfranchising the veteran folders.
PS3...hmmm...maybe I was late to this, but I did 4040 PS3 WUs over about 3 years.
AFAIK, each WU was 251 points and took 8 hours to complete.
So...753 PPD...
Was there some point-rigging earlier on in the PS3 launch?
Or were the CPU points just obscenely low?

Looks like I got one of the last big WUs then out of the barrel. (Cann't get it under 20 min TPF no matter how fast I pedal the cycles)
PS3 WUs had a better return when they first appeared to get people interested. Sony were glad!

Well, I've just got another 14,000 point WU so they're still floating around. Good for jumping up the team members list!

Yeah, they must have released another small-ish batch of 'em.
I checked earlier today - I had 7 GPUs all shrubbing those 14k WUs.
But, they're taking about a quarter of an eternity to complete!
My best TPF for these was about 6m35s (on GTX-690).
GTX-560ti was getting about 7m50s TPF.
They may have already been exhausted. My GTX-690s are back to the smaller/quicker ones again. My 560s are finishing what they have.

YES! We received a new-year's present in the form of:
POSITION #120 !
Sometime today (31Dec2012) we passed pretaktovanie.sk
And our ascent is seemingly working well if we can keep up the current momentum.
The next 3 teams are within a couple of weeks of being trampled by us.
We do, however have some competitors behind us that are gaining on us.

Our first F@H conquest of 2013:
SpeedGuide.net has fallen before the awesome looniness of the KWSN.
We are now at #119!
Let's hope our ascent continues!!!!!!!!!
