Thanks to my new 6870 I ran a handful of POEM WUs this morning and have already jumped 22 spots on the team in the project and over 10,000 spots in the project overall. Having only one card won't jump me too close to the top very fast but its certainly a fun start

Welcome to POEMs team! Are you using the app file to max your card?

Don't be surprised, I think Stoop's using mostly a single 5770.

No Sir Moose I am not maxing the card because i just got it and use this computer for crunching as well as other things so i would rather not burn it up so quickly.

@Gem, cool, now if i could go back in time and run POEM for as long as Stoop has i could really give him a challenge.

The stats say I should pass Sir Spongebob in ~16 days. He is stalled at 50k, so we'll see how long it takes to hit that. Then onward to 1 MILLION POINTS

I am running 2 on each of my 3 Gpu's. I tried as many as 9 on each but I can't get it to run more than ~35% Gpu usage. I think I am blocked by Cpu.
It's only a Quad core 940 Deneb AMD....

Now wait a sec, are we doing POEM or PG? Is this some kind of looney-ness or another special-reverse-smokescreen-invisa-challenge-(that's not really a challenge)?
Granted, I wasn't going to cross over my trusty 5770 for the month, but the 5870 is churning PG for the time being. Hopefully Gem doesn't gain too much ground on me. And if you do, well, all the better for the team. Go team!

I've done every PoTM for 2 years. After being offline for ~a month this year due to ISP and power outages, I found a project that pays great, (2 days over 1.3M), does hard science instead instead of producing piles of crap (Moo!), uses the hardware well without running it into an early grave.

Also still not feeling well and coping with the nor'easter that dumped snow
(34F right now!) on top of the hurricane rubble, and the town didn't pick up garbage this week yet. There's ~300lbs of food sitting at the curb waiting for this weekend's expected 60's temps to produce a bumper crop of maggots in rotten meat for the raccoons to spread around.

Reconfiguring the computers is not the highest priority ATM, but isn't PG much better for NV anyway?

Seeing as how I tried to run PG for a day or two as GPU project and did not receive a single ATI WU I felt disappointed in the chances of that working very well. Then i tried POEM and it has been working great

Sounds like you've more important things to worry about. I've never tried Prime Grid so I can n't help (it's all numbers to me Smile ).

Somebody doing/done both needed!

There's an app file on the messageboard that'll let you run more then 1 GPU WU at a time, if you're brave!

Welcome to the team!

Any info on how that file plays with multi-card systems? Since I am running dual ATI cards in a crossfireX and eyefinity setup I am a little hesitant about tossing a wrench into that mix

I don't run multi-GPU systems, but you'll likely need more CPU cores.

It's possible to limit cpu usage per GPU WU so for example I've got 2 POEM GPU WUs running at 80% CPU usage and 1 Fight Malaria CPU WU running on an old Core2Duo PC.

This means longer completion times, but it's still quicker then running only 1 GPU WU at a time.

I've run 3 WUs on a GPU at the same time and still only come up to 75% load, so 2 should n't be a problem.

I am running it on a 5870 and 5970 in the same box. Works fine.
I had trouble running it on the Nvidia cards. All the Wu's kept trying to run on the card in slot 0. I have 3-9800 Gtx+ in that box. So I put those on Prime Grid

If you are running ATI don't forget the 12.11Beta 4 drivers. It makes a BIG difference
