Two more days then it pandemonium and mayhem for all projects as we let everyone loose to do what they want. Hee he.

Top 5 Production teams:

1 SETI.Germany 991 483
2 The Knights Who Say Ni! 241 409
3 Rechenkraft.net 120 845
4 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 98 090
5 Team Musketeers 84 863

Another great day with over 200k produced. Brilliant Job. If we keep that going for the next 2 days we will probably move up into 7th place overtaking Team 67 as the accrued credit fillers through over the following few days.

Current Position:

6 BOINC Synergy 5 798 375
7 Team 67 5 158 429
8 The Knights Who Say Ni! 4 612 244
9 Protein structural analysis room Japan 4 219 429
10 Free-DC 4 178 730

Two in the top 50 on the project. Gem joined the top shrubbers today and became our third team member in the top 100 on the project. WTG Gem great job.

289 Mildew
356 KWSN-Sir Papa Smurph
502 Nuadormrac
504 Agostino Galegati
635 Plomos
747 JavaPersona

We have all taken a bit of a slide backwards as the SETI.Germany crunching machines have kicked in sadly.

Formula BOINC

This is how the land lies for the top 6 teams.

1 Rechenkraft.net 25, 20,242,217
2 Planet 3DNow! 18, 17,772,223
3 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 15, 11,269,131
4 SETI.Germany 12, 5,788,212
5 L'Alliance Francophone 10, 4,782,903
6 The Knights Who Say Ni! 8, 4,568,993

Over the remaining days of this PotM we should be able to get back into 5th place and gain those 10 FB points. Don't know where we have lost them from, however we have lost another 2 FB points somewhere. Anyone any ideas which project we lost them from? Could it be PRIMABOINCA?

DC Vault is considering again whether to add RNA World. You may want to weigh in given our experience this month...

Really DC Vault have a totally rubbish registration system.

I was not able to register to post any thoughts about RNAWorld and they have banned my email address Hummm

Before anyone says anything I did try to register more than once.

Feeling rather Grumpy now #Evil Bat

Top 5 Production Teams Today:

1 SETI.Germany 679 080
2 The Knights Who Say Ni! 201 370
3 Rechenkraft.net 109 349
4 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 101 305
5 Team Musketeers 69 173

Good day again everyone Very Happy

SETI.Germany seem to have slowed down. It may be because they took on a load of XXL WU's which have clogged them up, so they might skyrocket again tomorrow or the next day.

Current Position:

6 BOINC Synergy 5 802 334
7 Team 67 5 171 144
8 The Knights Who Say Ni! 4 813 615
9 Protein structural analysis room Japan 4 245 694
10 Free-DC 4 184 540

Potential to overtake Team 67 still. Just depends on how much credit we have left over from the months shrubbing for the project Very Happy

Formula BOINC

Only 24k short of gaining 10 points. Good to see that we have gained an FB point for PrimeGrid after the 2 we lost earlier in the year.

Ok. Need an opinion or two. I currently have my GPU crunching on Collatz. PrimeGrid, fun as it is, feels a little like cheating from a stats standpoint. So, that said, where would it be most beneficial, FB points speaking, to dedicate my GPU? I have no issues hitting PrimeGrid again if it really can help make a difference for the team.

Thanks!

PS. All CPU shrubbers are dedicated to RNA World for the foreseeable future, so this is strictly a "where to point the GPU question".

Here is the list posted by LanDroid in the vacation thread

Sztaki (Only 10K points to snag 2 FB's, 1 million points could win 11?)
uFluids (100K points to snag 1 FB, 600K points could win 25?)
Virtual Prairie (200K wins 1 FB, 700K points could win 12?)
Lattice Project (110K to snip 1 FB, 500K points could win 25 FB's? Low volume WU's but may have some for Cuda GPU?)
Constellation (480K to grab 1 FB, 2.5 million could win 25 FB's?)
Edges (200K wins 1 FB, 1 million wins 4?)
Cosmology (500K points to win 1 FB?)
Ibercivis (900K points to win 2 FB?)
Quake Catcher (50K to steal 1 FB, 260K wins 25?) How many Kanigits live on a fault line? Razz
RSA Lattice Siever (200K snags 2 FB, 2.1 million wins 25?)
Superlink (400K snips 1 FB, 1.5 million wins 25?)

Thanks. Pretty slim GPU pickings at the moment from that list.

For what it's worth:

Lattice: Does GPU, but no work units available at the moment
uFluids and Virtual Prairie: Both seem to be dead from a WU standpoint; message board traffic confirms
Contellation, Edges, RSA Lattice: No GPU support
Ibercivis: Not sure due to language barrier
Cosmology: Not sure, users seem a bit unhappy with the project

We should start a Formula Boinc thread since there seems to be a lot of new interest in that. I don't own a GPU so not an expert, but after a quick 'round I'd say the best bet to help out in FB would be to point your GPU at Prime Grid. We're already in 10th place, about 60 million behind Extreme Systems. Appears we are waaay behind the pack in other GPU projects?

Final Stats:
7th Place +34
5,228,616 Points +4,701,223.
158,531 RAC +147,505 / 2nd Place +8
161,784 crunched yesterday +153,084.
4,291,787 shrubbed last 28 days +3,959,162.
10 Formula Boinc points +10

Wow, what a Stomp-Fest plus great success in Formula Boinc!

For those continuing with RNA World during the vacation, about 600K needed to pass Boinc Synergy for 6th place. Then it's a long slog to pass anyone else in either Team ranking or Formula Boinc.

2 The Knights Who Say Ni! 201 370
3 Rechenkraft.net 109 349
4 BOINC@AUSTRALIA 101 305
5 Team Musketeers 69 173

What a figure to end the month on with one of our highest production days for the month Very Happy

Predictions near the start of the PotM were fairly accurate. Very Happy

John as predicted you are up in the 30-40 at 34th Globally
Gem predicted that you would be in the top 70-80, and it is here that I have to call off the Tanut to our Lovely Killer Wabbit who has a vicious pointy end.
With the extra 70k you have added to my credit total to boost me up, you would have ended up just shy in 83rd position and only about 30k short of 80th position.
DoW after flexing your mighty muscles you have done a fantastic job and taken 26th place globally ahead of the predicted 30-40th place.

Final Global Standings for everyone who took part.

26 DoW
34 {KWSN}John Galt 007
94 Gemjunkie
107 The Knighty NI (Adjusted minus Gem Boost 129th)
165 Al Dente
178 KWSN - Sir Tiberius
232 Sir Stooper
238 Blurf
239 SpineyNorman
242 Arthur_Lemming
258 Yankton
421 Idan Shifres
569 KWSN-Sir Forth of Erebourne
751 Altivec
817 Mildew
980 Hal9000
984 LanDroid
1069 Agostino Galegati
1812 JONB
2016 Nuadormrac
2036 Plomos
2556 JavaPersona

Its truly amazing that more than half of those that took part are in the top 500 globally and more than three quarters are in the top 1000 on the project. Its also very pleasing to see we are represented as a team across all areas of the stats table with some in the top 50 and 100 Razz

I hope you all enjoyed the stats and analysis

#ni-1 to everyone

I think I figgered out my problem with the XXL work units. During that time I was rebooting a lot (messing around trying to set up a Linux boot flash drive). I saw where RNA World does not have check-pointing. So thinking back, I probably lost all my work in process every time I shut down Boinc and rebooted. It wasn't a big deal on the small WU's, but I probably lost an entire week of crunching on the big 'uns.

Just now? You should've read the RNA threads last month. Razz

The small WUs actually are bundles of hundreds of very small work packets, so they behave much as they would with checkpointing.

I have recently purchased a new machine, running Fedora 15.

Almost all is running smoothly that has been transfered over. I have noticed two things:

1. RNA World now sends message about needing about 4 GB of RAM? As such, this new machine of mine has been denied WU's and cannot crunch for RNA at all anymore.

2. Based on what I've read on their message boards, this is not a bug and nothing to be concerned about. Shocked

Anyone else have the same issue? Is this Linux only? I have mostly retired the Windows laptop and have not checked to see what happens there.

IIRC, RNA world was the reason I upgraded from 4GB to 8GB on my hex-cores. I had some WUs paused with the message 'Waiting for memory'. (64-bit Win7)

Just yesterday I upgraded one to 16GB, the machine is noticeably more responsive.

Something I've been meaning to ask about memory - I run Win 7 64 bit, a 3 core processor, and 3 gigs of memory. The little RAM meter is usually at 45 - 50% utilized and hardly ever goes above 60%, so I see no need to increase it? (I may try some RNA and see what happens.)

Havwe you tried looking at WUProp results? There's all sorts of useful information about such things as memory usage.

BTW, Is there any self-respecting kaNi!ggit NOT running WUProp - it's a virtually free 50 credits/shrubber/day; all it does is report back on the WUs you've run.
