Have you run the fan speed up?
Me thinks you have a bad card... Try replacing it with another and see if you have the same problem.

Simplest things first.

1. Check that you have the monitor plugged into the correct port?

2. Switch to onboard graphics and see if you can get it running stably. Then re-introduce the external card.

I once messed around with a box for several hours before realizing I had the wrong port selected on the KVM switch... Embarassed
