It would appear that the lobsters discussing the Schrödinger experiment are sitting on some nettles. Confused

I though the word "tree" was reserved for woody plants, while a herb (like the nettle) could not be called a tree (and could thus not host a pair of tree lobsters).

Even if the term "tree" refers more to a certain size of plant, rather than it's woodiness, I don't think the nettle could qualify.

You need to shape up these science links! We can't have them go all silly.

If the image had been of a pair of Herb Crabs on the other hand, it would have been a hilarious joke! Especially when one considers the vocal qualities of such crabs (nudge nudge )

While at first glance, those would indeed appear to be nettles, (and yes, herb crabs would be hilarious) I'm not entirely sure those aren't beech or possibly ash. The serrated leaf pattern and blossoms are very much like a nettle.

However, even if they are beech (or ash), they appear to be saplings at best. Those trees are also well known for branching out profusely from the base making them actually - *GASP* - a shrubbery!!

So the tree lobster joke still falls flat. I think Mildew was right, you need to put far more critical analysis into your science posts. But I did like the dialog, who knew crustaceans (be they tree, herb, or shrubbery) were so smart?

Actually, I'm quite sure they are sitting in a Larch, and this was secretly intended to a botany thread all along! Very Happy

I like the debate over the exact nature of the shrubbery, but nobody seems to have noticed the tree-climbing lobsters have been cooked already.

They should have used coconut crabs.
