Just bought one for my puter.

Tried to install it on my Gigabyte MA770-UD3 MB.

When booted it just sat there and didn't move onto the post screen or display any options for accessing the BIOS screens.

Any ideas on what I need to do to get this Proc to run on this board?

Before I bought it I checked out the MB and Proc both are supposedly compatible. Also got the supplier to check and confirm that I was correct before paying for it.

Humm. Scratching my head over this one Lol

Once its running I should be able to get it to run at 6 x 3.7 Ghz Very Happy Swweeeet

I'm not a hardware geek, but I'd guess you need a Bios update to F9E or F9G.

Good Luck!

Did you check Gigabyte's site? I got to here but it needs the rev.#.

If you already had this board in use you might need to clear the bios before you do anything else.

The six core CPUs are mentioned but only if you have board rev 2.1. Not sure if that means they won't work in previous revs, but it is possible. Check your motherboard type out

Used the GigaByte @BIOS tool and flashed the BIOS. Systems stable so not expecting any probs Smile

Tired now so will have to wait until tomorrow eve after work to replace the proc and see if its worked.

Its delicate work changing the Proc with all those pins and I've had a few beers now while searching Lol

Thanks for the help guys Very Happy

Depending on what revision your board is, your board may not be able to handle the Phenom II.

I just built a new machine similar to yours:

MB: Gigbabyte GA890-GPA-UD3H AM3
Processor: AMD Phenom II x6 1090T
Ram: 8 GB Corsair XMS DDR3
VC: Sapphire Radeon 6870

Yayyy Got it working so now have 6 cores to play with.

Just need to ensure that the temp stays down at the right level. Currently running at 56 C with 100% load and hovering at 50-52 C with 75% loading.

Maybe I just need to let it run for 48 hrs to burn it in at a lower temp.

Yippee Very Happy

It'd be a little hard getting it to work in an AM2+ socket. Razz

You raise bees? Fresh honey is awesome! I hate shopping at stores these days. There's a beekeeper near here, I get my honey from the source! Rock on!
