I have 1 that does that...I set the CPUs in the BOINC manager to 95% so it only runs 3 on the CPU....

Thanks. I'm going to try that with one of them when I finish work. Not sure what I'm going to do about the other two.

I have my caches at 1 day, but mostly get:
Quote:
Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server
Project communication failed...
Internet access OK -project sercers may be temporarily down.

Have to babysit and hit 'Retry Now' on uploads and downloads, and 'Update' to request tasks. Wasted dozens of core-hours. #Mad

Well, I managed to get one machine going again by doing a case swap for more fans and another is running on 2 of 4 cores. My other Q6700 has a serious problem. It just keeps going through the boot cycle, tries to go to Windows, fails and starts the whole process again. It'll have to be a project for another day. Confused

There are SOOOO many ways I could follow that up, but I can't think of a single one that wouldn't get me banned.

The official diagnosis is that it is fried Sad

Completely cleaned out the case and finally resorted to a new hard drive I had stored away. Got this funny screen with all kinds of letters and numbers and a brief summary that essentially said, "this machine isn't going any further or you'll fry the drive." Oh well, this finally gives me an excuse to build another one. Idea

There's one other thing I'm going to check when I get a chance. I remember having a similar problem when there was an issue with my video cards. Also, when this machine did manage to get the splash screen the images were at about half tone and were shifted toward red. That might point to a video card issue, too. Fortunately, I have a new card I can try.

If that doesn't work, the new build will be an i7. I've had everything except the motherboard and heat sink to the build for over a year, so I guess it might be time to execute. Maybe replace a pair of 4870's with 5870's Twisted Evil

I just bought an i5 2500K and Gigabyte MB package deal and was about to build when news of the recall broke. Crying or Very sad Decided to wait for the replacement board rather than have to disassemble/reassemble.

I've come to like the Cooler Master HAF912 case a lot, roomy, great airflow and reasonable price, reg. $70, ~$50 on sale.

I'm staying around 320 with my overclocked phenom II x4 965. Don't look like I'll go much higher. but not bad for just one cpu.

I just checked the video card theory and that was a bust. For the rebuild I'll use the same case. It's a Antec 900 gaming case. Lots of room and lots of fans helps keeps things nice and cool.
