Anyone else find this odd?

http://www.setigermany.de/boinc_pentathlon/statistiken/teamstats_en_21_The+Knights+Who+Say+Ni%21.html

Quote:
Individual stats for: FreeHAL (05/10/2010 - 05/15/2010)

...Hunter & Hunted
Team Rank Total-Difference
boinc.at (+1) 12 -237.069
The Knights Who Say Ni! 13 0
BOINC Synergy (-1) 14 -192.294
Xtrem Team Boinc Addicted 15 -198.030

So, if total difference is the total difference in credits earned; how can the team who's ranked immediately above us, have less then us (a negative total difference), and not only have fewer then us, but have fewer then the 2 teams beneath us also? It looks like we should be 12th place based on that chart, and they shold be 15th, hmm... Looking at the other charts, it's always the teams with the positive total difference who are ranked above, and the teams with a negative total difference that are ranked below.

Wonder what gives on that listing there.

This said, I don't know if this problem (if it is as it looks) would be on the Pentathalon site or the freeHAL's end of things), though all in all freeHAL has had major problems, such as once again can't return work because their has problems

Quote:

and the past 3 days, there's been a rather consistent set of problems getting or sending WUs, which has at least in the case of my CPUs kept it rather starved of late. But that's seperate and actual project problems which prevents one from getting units would be reflected in actual credit grants. This one is a matter of lower rank with a higher total difference?

Well FreeHAL is over and now it is just Collatz and Rosetta for the final days. We are still 8th overall.

8th and gaining. We went up a spot in Collatz, we downed the Scots, and we're on track to take another place.

Rosetta we overtook Boinc Synergy, too early to see the trends there.

But I predict a solid 8th place finish. Very good considering the competition.

Though with all the probs, and the length of time I couldn't get units or return any, I was sitting on 20 WUs from the time of my post to present which were on the "ready to report" phase, but couldn't be turned in. There's more then just the place lost there I think we lost on that project due to all the probs; as evidenced by the fact that other then that one team that had some odd reporting, other teams around us also fell suddenly to a 0 return drop rate (which would be consistent with the feeder, along with the WU generators, and other stuff having crashed or otherwise showing a not running state on the server status page for them.

Not sure however, the one team still shows positive returns in all those hours though, with server status being not running (was keeping an eye as I kept trying to return the results before the cutoff time).

FreeHAL was a disaster from the beginning. Alpha projects should never be considered for inclusion in a competition. I'm sure the German team will learn something from this and plan accordingly for the next go.

They did base FreeHAL on majority voting.

Exactly, it proves they're crazy enough to be Knights. Or they could have just left it off the list of candidates....

Yeah, vote or no vote; they did include it as an option to be voted on, even though it didn't meet the list of enumerated critereon for inclusion (such as people being able to get a healthy dose of WUs). #ni-1 It is of course hard to keep the CPU from getting starved when the servers are down as much as they're up

Reminder: Collatz ends tonight 8:00 EST. Then it's Rosetta full blast for two days...

Looks like we're solidly in 8th place. We gained 3 points in the last 24 hrs due to Collatz. Russia is behind us, but doing terribly in Collatz and Rosetta, no way they can catch us. Doesn't look like we can move up either, Planet 3DNow! is out-producing us in those two projects...

8th overall is a good showing. I doubt SETI USA would stop shrubbing to allow us to catch up to them.

Perhaps some reverse-reverse-reverse taunting would do the trick? #ni-1

Nah, about the only thing that would work is if you could single out their IP addys vs everyone elses, and DDoS bomb their comps #ni-1
