A hex on the BBC for the budget cuts, and the shortened Doctor Who and Torchwood seasons for 2009.

It will be interesting to see if Martha pops up again in Torchwood.
I love the characters, so it was really sad when they killed off Tosh and Owen...maybe not so sad re Owen. He was a bit of a pain really. Wink
Rhys is a great character, and I reckon they should have more of Andy.
And the cross-over Doctor Who/Torchwood eps are just brilliant. I hope there will be plenty more of those.
There is no 2009 Doctor Who season... Crying or Very sad

Matt Smith has played alongside Billie Piper in Philip Pullman's Ruby in the Smoke and Jewel in the North. He is quite unusual and could make for an excellent Doctor. See if you can find his interview for Docotor Who Confidential and you will see what I mean.

They have picked the new Doctor to take over in 2010. After the specials of 2009 are completed. A young 26 year old man named Matt Smith.

I think there will be 3 or 4 (?) 'specials' though. Like they've done with Torchwood. According to what I read a while back, things should be back to normal for 2010. Better be! Or there will be quite a few disgruntled fans around the place. #Mad We might have to launch a massive campaign like the "Bring back La Femme Nikita" one that at least got us season 5 (short and not what we wanted to see, but better than nothing). And at least we finally got it all on dvd...eventually...after the dvd campaign.
Fingers crossed we won't have to do that with the Doctor and Torchwood.
The Torchwood airing was a complete disaster here. It wasn't picked up by the ABC and shown in synch with Doctor Who. Confused It was picked up by a commercial station, that put it on fairly late. Then the second season was shown on only the HD channel so all the fans without HD missed out. We've got an HD set top box but we still missed out here because we're in a regional area, despite the fact that we're only a 3 hour drive from Brisbane. Grrrr. And guess what! Channel 10 completed ignored the fans even though they were posting in the Torchwood forum at the Channel 10 site itself.
Channel 10 programming is pure sh*t. It's just unfortunate that they do show some good stuff like NCIS, Law and Order, Numbers and House (love Hugh Laurie but not the fake American accent Confused ). If it wasn't for that I wouldn't watch Ch 10 at all.
This brings back memories of the frustration with Warner Brothers over LFN, and Ch 9's delay with picking up the seasons and putting it on really late here.
It happens to all the good stuff on commercial stations here. What do we get instead? Reality tv and multiple re-runs of Friends.

Bumping it a bit - Maybe Miss 'Chelle will return to the fold...

Quote:
"The Waters of Mars" will be the second special of British science fiction television series Doctor Who to be broadcast in 2009 ("Planet of the Dead" was the first). According to Doctor Who writer and producer Russell T Davies, the special will be closely linked to the next two but is not the first part of a three-part story. Davies expects the special to air around November.

(Anybody want to PM me about getting an .AVI of "Planet Of The Dead"?)

Just read that we get another Season of Torchwood

"Torchwood is coming back for a fourth series, confirmed John Barrowman on Steve Wright's radio show this afternoon. And he revealed it will back up to 13 episodes, after the mini-series experiment with "Children Of Earth".

"We are discussing the future of Torchwood, because most definitely Torchwood will come back to the BBC," Barrowman told the DJ. "We're not sure when, because we have to sort out the logistics of the filming, and it's already been said that it will be 13 episodes rather than five."

"2011 series - A new series, scheduled for broadcast in 2011, was confirmed by executive producer Piers Wenger in the March 2010 edition of Doctor Who Magazine. A 2010 Christmas special has also been confirmed, to be written by Steven Moffat. Filming is to start in July 2010. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will both reprise their roles as the Doctor and Amy for the special and the new series."

I'm still trying to locate 2010 Episodes... Maybe I'll move to 'out and about' somewhere around South Wales... Maybe BBC will start WebCasting, like CBS and NBC does their popular shows!

C'mon, surely he's past his 11th regeneration by now. Who does he think he is, The Master?

We've now had two episodes with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan.
I'm giving them time to "bed in" as it were but I didn't like the 2nd one much.
We shall see.

Will be time to spend a lot of money soon. They are reviving the entire doctor who series onto DVD, comes out later this year. Can't wait to see ALL of it from the beginning. I know I haven't seen all of them, and until now they were almost impossible to find. Woohoo!

Saw the 3rd episode last night, I'm so angry that I can't express myself properly in a forum without being banned.
