My secret weapon arrived today. I have my I7 and joined only PrimeGrid for the rest of the challange.

I cannot seem to get the GPU to work, though. So right now 8 at a time. (Anyone have suggestions on getting the GPU to work?)

Nvidia GPU? If so, BOINC 6.10.17+ and driver 191.xx should do the trick...and allowing it in your PG profile...and make sure that the box it checked to use GPU while in use...

Well, since we're being brutally honest, I'm glad your having more money than me makes it ok that you're an asshole. And here I thought we were having a little friendly competition. Guess not.

Your wish is my command, I'll stop bothering your lordship and go back to my pig pen where a good pauper should be.

The issue is BOINC 6.10.18 doesn't see the GPU, but I verified I am on the newest version of CUDA.

I'm using 6.10.18 and had no issues with BOINC finding my GPU. I'm not connected to PG so the issue may be a setting or project related. Windows 7 BTW.

P.S. Welcome Back! and Welcome to the Challenge!

Thanks, stooper. I thought that was the case but just wanted to check.

Okay, as to the other matter. I am totally bewildered as to why Jer's post deserved to be attacked in that manner. Not taking sides at all but I don't blame him for responding in kind. I would have done the same in self defense.

A lot of team members take advantage of borged computers, and a lot of team members have only one or two at their disposal. I guess that matters if you're a stats junkie, but IMO every little bit helps if you're working towards something that might be of benefit e.g. finding a cure for cancer or researching new treatments.
Those of us who don't have massive computer power have got very little hope of getting anywhere in the stats even after a number of years. Who gives a stuff? I certainly don't. Just have fun with it. There's no need to be grouchy.
If you're going to have a go at Jer and his borged machines, why not have a go at all the other team members who are doing the same. What's good for the goose etc.
If you're not happy about Jer leaving the team, you've just got to realise that he had his reasons and he has to do what he feels is right.
It doesn't mean that he can't come back to visit the forum.

I haven't messed with cuda on windows yet so I'm not sure what to tell you either. You have the toolkit as well as the drivers installed?

OK, I did not have CUDA installed, but when I try to install CUDA it says I have no devices compatible with CUDA.

I am a bit upset. I even went to the NVIDA site and did the online compatibility software find and it found the CUDA software and downloaded,, but won't install.

From the website scan:
Product Current
Installed Driver Latest Driver
Update
NVIDIA GeForce GT 220 195.62 Your PC currently has the latest driver installed for your GPU. No driver update is necessary at this time.

So I have the latest driver, yet CUDA will not install.

pooh bear, not sure if windows is the same way but the nvidia display drivers aren't the same as the cuda drivers. Make sure you have the cuda drivers installed and not the standard display drivers and then install the toolkit.

When I try to install the CUDA driver it says I do not have a compatible card. So I decided to install the toolkit first and that says my card is CUDA enabled.

So I am still stuck as to why the CUDA driver will not install?

A few posts in this thread are complete uncalled for. Is this what the team has come down too? Name calling and sour grapes?

Please. Grow up.
